1. I called upon You by Your beautiful names certain
Of Your fulfilling the promise You stated, so do!

2. I prayed though I offered no excuse for myself
Yet in good faith I came hopefully

3. Who is he that supplicated You, O Savior Lord,
And did not come away rewarded right away?

4. What salt through names rehearsed
Did not live reciting them troubled?

5. Your right is not to veil except our souls
Whose states require refusal and holding back

6. So the Blessed and Exalted did not stint
But the cause of holding back is intrinsic to us

7. Remove the nature of my soul and make me shun its desires
And for me in the secrets of the Names be perfecting

8. Save, turn toward, forgive the sin of regretful
Confessant, intense, have mercy on him and accept!

9. And ease for me, O Allah, obtaining my hopes and goals
Through their secrets and undo by them my knot of affliction

10. O my God, give me mastery over the unfolding of their effects
And the secrets of their influences! Possess the Most High!

11. And do not appoint for me through their grace
A present fortune, but one soon and later!

12. O Allah, bless the one at all times
Whom You praised in revelation and revered

13. Muhammad the Rightly Guiding Trustworthy and his House
His companions and successors and whoever followed!

14. A prayer that lifts my burden through its merit
And grants my request abundantly or sparingly

15. And has mercy on my pleading and long affliction
By Your beautiful names with You and accepts!

16. And since my words flowed forth entwined
With a measure drawn from the endless sea

17. Containing marvels beyond number, a ladder
By which the gnostics ascend to the Most High

18. Embedding a date for the perfection of its beauty
Three names that summarize the whole:

19. Rich, Gentle, King—so take it detailed!
