1. Yet he gives with the measure of his mind
The truths of the people of God, dragging burdens

2. And he shakes off where shaking off is praise and wisdom
Extra prayers not less than holding back the clouds

3. He turns away an edifying soul from excess
Thus protecting it in the virtues of gifts

4. And if he stood in what the soul desires of hand
Its generosity would be constricted by the orbit of stars

5. He observes wisdom between tightening and giving
So his way in generosity is the best of ways
