1. O God, thankfulness for the smallest favor is the work of the obedient,
With the best reward that does not perish over time.

2. However many good deeds I am thankful for,
My thanks to You for them is purely a blessing.

3. What have I done that deserves thanks from You?
Even if I came with deeds weighing as much as an atom.

4. Gratitude is only what matches the favor,
So where, O Exalted God, are my excellence and bounty?

5. Even if I lived for eons and came with the equivalent
Of goodness and obedience numbering all creation,

6. And I came with the effort of both worlds in worship
Tearing my limbs apart and exhausting my brain,

7. And fell short of all You created and all those
You will create, my Lord, in degrees of nearness,

8. It would not be, in my power, that You thank me
For a blessing I made weak with my strength.

9. You did not stop at praising the gift, not the giver.
To You belongs praise for the benevolence of thanking humanity,

10. To You belongs the right of thanks, to God alone,
And we have no ability for that in reality.

11. So grant me the perfection of thanks for every blessing,
Though my thanks cannot match any blessing.
