1. I offer myself, filled with fear and hope
To you, so lead me closer, O Guide

2. Who but You leads me in my offering, and in my quest?
If You lead me not, o Guide, here halted is my quest

3. Not by my will rose I in chanting praise
But by the grace of the Guide was I raised

4. And were it not for the Guide's blessing
Souls would be faltering from rank on rank

5. And competing for virtues a station for souls
By their Lord's grace on them settled

6. None attains a thing by his strength
But by divine favour drawn nearer

7. In grades of nearness, wisdom's secrets
Point to the Lord's name in degrees

8. Up those ascents none climbed a span
Save led by the Guide's power and will

9. O God, make me firm in obedience
And in good, upon the firstness

10. And bring me close, O God, where You pleased me
And suffice my station what You deemed best for me

11. What You wish, o Guide, is not what delights my soul
But Your pleasure is mycontentment
