1. O God, with blessings You initiated us,
And that affectionate nature is the essence of love.

2. You made yourself beloved through gratitude among saints,
In their spiritual stations, and chose them for love.

3. You made yourself beloved through forgiveness for sinners,
O Affectionate One, and did not cut off hope for repentance.

4. You made yourself beloved through sustenance for all creation,
So the distribution of livelihood was with justice.

5. And You placed in some of creation affection for others,
And that is from the subtleties of divine affection.

6. And Your affection for those You choose is mystical knowledge
You send down, having preceded with love.

7. And were it not for the providence of affection and pleasure,
They would not have exceeded in their journey a single step.

8. And from Your affection is the light You radiated,
Without which no being would know You.

9. And Your affection is an allotted share in intellects,
Through which every heart attains its degree.

10. So grant me through Your overflowing affection sincere love,
Free of my letters and pages.

11. Grant me lasting love among Your servants,
And direct my love for the people of God toward You.
