I will never forget a day of intimate gathering
بشرت يوما بإنجاز لموهبة
I heralded one day the fulfillment of a gift
شمس المكارم هذي عند ما غربت
The sun of virtues when it set
انظر الى مدفن جليل
Look at the tomb of Galilee
بقبول صومك قد تبسم عيده
With the acceptance of your fast, its holiday smiled
ألا في سبيل الله ما حل بي منك
Alas! For the cause of God, what has befallen me from you
وصفوا لي علاج برء لسقم
They prescribed a cure for an illness
ولا تشك من خطب ألم إلى فتى
Do not complain of affliction to a free man
لست أحصي على علاك ثناء
I cannot enumerate your virtues in praise,
نظرت لروفائيل يخطر رافلا
I gazed upon Raphael pacing gracefully
أبا عزيز أدام الله دولتكم

أتيت دمنهورا أروح بالصفا

يا حسن راي للمليك عزيزنا
O good counsel for the honored king
ما بال نجم العلا قد لاح مؤتلفا
Why has the star of glory risen assembled,
أخا الوداد أعنى في مكابدتي
O brotherly affection, help me endure
يا من بطول الهجر أصبح غادري
O you whose long absence has made you so distant
إن العيون التي في طرفها حور
The eyes that have houri in their corners,
مالي أراك أخا الإيناس والسلم
Why do I see you troubled, O brother of comfort and peace?
قل للمعالي ترطب مسمعي طربا
Say to the eminent one who delights my hearing with joy
في مطلع الأسعاد أشرق كوكب
In the dawn of good fortune, a star has risen
ما أسعد العيد في وجودك
How joyous is Eid in your presence,
أبا مصطفى استمتع فحظك وافر
O Prophet Mustafa, enjoy yourself, your luck is abundant
يا سيدي مصطفى يا خير من سعدت
O my master Mustafa, O the best of those
ابشر بعز مخلد
Receive the glad tidings of immortal glory,
عتبت والعتب أرجى في الوداد على
I reproached, though reproach is better withheld,
سألته التقبيل في خده
I asked him for a kiss on his cheek
له فطنة فوق العقول مكانة
He has a wisdom beyond minds in rank
يا أيها الشهم الجليل ومن له
O noble and generous one, unmatched in
من أحرز الفضل الجليل بجده
He who attained great merit through his diligence
من يستمع صوت عبد الحي يلق له
Whoever listens to the voice of Abdelhay finds
في عالم الرؤيا رأيت ركابكم
In the world of dreams I saw your riding camels
مالي أرى شمس المسرة أشرقت
Why do I see the sun of joy has risen
ولما جلسنا للشراب ومنيتي
When we sat to drink and make merry
إذا كنت في نعمة فارعها

لي صاحب عدمته

ما لي أرى غصن الهنا
Why do I see the bough of delight
يا أيها الخل الذي لم ينسني
O friend, who has not forgotten me
لاموا على صبي الدموع كأنهم
They blamed the boy of tears as if they thought
فرض علي عزيز ودك
Your precious affection is an obligation upon me
أساؤني بسوء الصنع أهلي
My family wronged me with ill treatment
أعط ما استطعت للفقير وإن كنت
Give what you can to the poor though it be little
كفاني رب الناس أعين حسدي
The Lord of mankind has spared me the envious eyes,
قالوا نجاشي البحيرة ناله
They said Najashi of Abyssinia attained it,
عندي لكم يا آل ودي دعوة
I have for you, O family of my affection,
يا آل قليوب بخير أبشروا
O people of Qalyub with good tidings rejoice
عبد المجيد بكير من له شهدت

لا يؤيسنك من مخبأة

مرت بحارس بستان فقال لها

ولما شربناها ودب دبيبها
لما تمادى على بعادي
لحى الله دهرا لم يصن عهد صحبتي

رأي فحب فرام الوصل فامتنعوا
