1. O desire of souls, O best of friends
Adorned with kindness, the jewel of glories

2. I thank Allah, I have been granted a boy
Whose face is auspicious, the best of births

3. I named him Samuel, for he is a blessing
And from him I gained the best of fortunes

4. He was in the unseen, hoped and prayed
The caller of good responded to the caller

5. And the messenger indicated I should name him
Samuel obeyed the best of my desires
