By your Lord, crooked is my abode without my beloved

1. By your Lord, crooked is my abode without my beloved
Where my heart has its windows overlooking

2. If you reveal my sorrow to blame him
And reproach him, perhaps reproach may incline him

3. Mention me in your talk after you both have conversed
With words that may reconcile him

4. If you are pleased with a beautiful union
Why make your servant familiar with estrangement?

5. If he smiles at words about his charms
May you equitably unite him with me, O virtuous one

6. And if anger shows in his face
And caprice plays beneath his frowning eyelid

7. And he says "who has killed you and who is this one?"
Then convince him, saying "you do not know him"
