1. They say, "O Jamīl, go on a raid,
To gain reward and glory!"

2. I said, "The singing girls suffice me, warring with them,
What other struggle do I want?"

3. So our every conversation among them is delightful,
To a lover who inclines his hearing, though slain.

4. And who refuses his doom before them?
For every one slain among them is a martyr.
