لو أن غير الدهر كان العادي
Had fate been kind, my people would have come
تباً لحكمك لا حرستا
Damn your rule without guards
غياث فاسمعوا قولي وعمرو
Ghayaath, so listen to my words, and Amr
زعموا أنني هجوت ابن شيث
They claimed that I maligned the son of Sheth
قيل لي إن مدلويه بن بدر

بكر الخليط إلى اللعين يعوده

وقاك الله مجد الدين عين الحسود

رعى الله قوماً في دمشق أعزة
