1. Have my eyes slept long for the caravan
Making their meadows suffice from summer and spring?
١. هَل وَفَت لِلطلولِ عَيني فَأَغنَت
ساحَتَيها عَن صيفٍ وَرَبيعِ
2. Wandering is the question of one with no answer
And foolishness is the prayer of one unhearing.
٢. وَضَلالٌ سُؤالُ غَيرِ مُجيبِ
وَسَفاهٌ دُعاءُ غَيرِ سَميعِ
3. If the lover had seen me the day they departed
He would have wept for me at the moment of farewell,
٣. لَو رَآني العَذولُ يَومَ اِستَقَلّوا
لَرَثى لي في مَوقِفِ التَوديعِ
4. Tears that bewilder the valleys,
And sighs too great for my ribs.
٤. عَبراتٌ تَحارُ مِنها الغَوادي
وَزَفيرٌ تَضيقُ عَنهُ ضُلوعي
