1. The wretched man goes back to his wickedness
When he spent the night burning with hand fever
١. بَكرَ الخَليطُ إِلى اللَعينِ يَعودُهُ
إِذ باتَ مِن حُمّى الأَكُفِّ نَهيكا
2. So he saw him with drooping mustache, scowling,
With blackened eyes and a crying mouth
٢. فَرَآهُ مَنتوفَ السِبالِ مُذَمَّمَ ال
آباءِ مَصفوعَ القَذالِ مَبيكا
3. So he cried for him and said to console him:
"You have an example to emulate in your father"
٣. فَبَكى وَرَقَّ لَهُ وَقالَ مُسَلِّياً
لَكَ في مُصابِكَ أُسوَةٌ بِأَبيكا
4. "Rejoice! You told the story of your father in his deeds
And I think your son after you will tell your story"
٤. أَبشِر حَكَيتَ أَباكَ في أَفعالِهِ
وَأَظُنُّ نَجلَكَ بَعدَها يَحكيكا
5. The wretched man answered saying:
"The truth does not console you like your brother"
٥. فَأَجابَهُ المَرءُ اللَعينُ بِقَولِهِ
الحَقُّ لا يُسليكَ مِثلُ أَخيكا
