1. Bear with me in my errors, counting them as good deeds,
So Allah may reward you for your mercy.
١. أَقِلني عِثاري وَاِحتَسِبها صَنيعَةً
يَكونُ بِرُحماها لَكَ اللَهُ جازِيا
2. It is sorrow enough you are not pleased, nor do I see
A content lad, or Allah satisfied with me.
٢. كَفى حزناً أَن لَستَ تَرضى وَلا أَرى
فَتىً راضِياً عَنّي وَلا اللَهَ راضِيا
3. After seventy excuses, I hope no more for life,
Having met therein such pitfalls.
٣. وَلَستُ أُرَجّي بَعدَ سَبعينَ حِجَّةً
حَياةً وَقَد لاقَيتُ فيها الدَواهِيا
4. I must soon encounter death with determination-
How eagerly longs for it he who braves the serpents!
٤. وَلا بُدَّ أَن أَلقى الرَدى مِن مُصَمِّمٍ
فَكَم يَتَوَقّى مَن تَخَطّى الأَفاعِيا
