1. Praise be to Allah, deserving of thanks,
My master Abu Nasr has been rightly guided,

2. And followed the truth when it appeared to him,
The light of guidance shone from the darkness of dawn,

3. And he said, “Christ is not to be worshipped,”
And gave judgement that the cross should be broken,

4. So his enviers thought it hypocrisy,
A matter which the envious do not comprehend,

5. They spoke it falsely, for there is no difference in Islam,
Between hypocrisy and disbelief,

6. That was only a veil upon Umar,
Many a violation is better than stripping bare,

7. So I said, “O people, Umar has
An excuse, if you would hear my plea,

8. His sister Layla complained to him of feverish desire,
Inflaming her, like embers of fire,

9. And itching in her soft parts, like the creeping
Of ants that does not cease,

10. And her remedy was his virility, as
Narrators of reports have borne witness,

11. And this used to help people in the
Bathhouse, this being clear,

12. So this teacher, whom God strengthen,
Went to her one day at nightfall,

13. And he had slept from weariness
And the cloak had slipped from him unawares,

14. With his tool exposed, and no headcloth
On his head, like a virgin’s,

15. Wide of cheek, hard of body, rigid
Of member, a difficult mount,

16. So she said “This would be violating
And wasting what merits no censure,”

17. But she did not stop deceiving him
Until she brought him to her bed,
