- هوت العقيق وما هوت فكأنهاThe Ruby Slipped Away as if it had Never Fallen
- وإذا تضايقت الأمور على الفتىWhen Affairs Become Difficult for the Young Man
- وإذا دهتك وساوس أو حيرةWhen doubts or confusion assail you
- وإذا ما المرء جرى طلقاWhen Man Flows Freely
- وأسعفني دهري بكل مطالبي

- والله لاأسأل الإنسان عن صلةI swear by God, I do not ask people about a relationship

- وصل الدواء فدمت ياربA Blessing From God, The Medicine Has Arrived
- وصل النظام بقيت يا نجل الأولىThe Firstborn, My Son, You Remain
- وطالب الدنيا بعل
- وغاية ما حصلته من مباحثيAnd the extent of what I have gained from my debates

- وكم من طواغيت يجر زمامهاSo many tyrants leading their followers
- وكيف يرجي الفتح والمنح بعدماHow can he hope for victory and gifts after
- ولست بممحض ودا لشخص
- ولكن إذا جزت الصراط فإننيYet if I cross the path, then I am happy
- ولو كان لي ملء البسيطة ألسنAnd if I had tongues filling the whole earth
- وليت الحكم خمسا وهي خمسI wish the rule were mine, five years or ten
- وليت الحكم فوق الأربعيناIf only I had ruled after forty
- وليس يزول الضر إلا بكلفةHardships won't go away without effort
- وما ذات أفراح جياع بعشهاAnd what are the joys of the hungry in their dinner
- ومتى أقوم بشكر ما خولتنيWhen Shall I Thank You for What You Have Given Me
- ومن أخلص الأعمال لله لم يبل
- ومن جار في الحكم فهو امرؤ
- ومن فاته نيل الغنى في شبابه

- يا أهل صنعا وإن كانت أحبتناO people of Sanaa, though our loved ones are there
- يا أيها المخلطO you who are confused in religion, neglectful of your faith,
- يا بدر قد أطلعت في فلك العلى
- يا بن الأولى في شانهم
- يا بن البهاليل والأطواد من مضرYa ibn al-bahalil wa al-atwad min Mudar
- يا جاهلا في نصر سنة أحمدO you who are ignorant of supporting Ahmad's Sunnah, have patience with the falsehood of the quarrelsome and dull-witted.
