1. My God, be, O my God, my helper;

    and bestow upon me the truth of certainty.

  2. I seek spiritual arrival, and the forsaking of all excess;

    and make acceptance mine, bringing solace to my eye.

  3. For after fifty years have passed

    from my life, nothing remains but to attend to my religion.

  4. Yet the rein of my right guidance has become

    held in the hand of divine decree in all my affairs.

  5. So direct it, O Lord, in every way that

    will bring me to the good of this world and religion.

  6. For if You will a man’s adornment,

    he is adorned, even though enamored of disgrace.
