أَقُولُ بَعْدَ حَمْدِ مَنْ

طَوَّقَنَا بالْمِنَنِ

After praising the One who

Has blessed us with favors,

مُصَلِّياً مُسَلِّماً

عَلَى النَّبي الْمَدَني

Praying and submitting

To the noble prophet from Medina

وآلِهِ وصَحْبِهِ

حُلاَّلِ عُقْدِ الْمِحَنِ

And his family and companions,

Who untie the knots of ordeals,

لَمْ يَأْتِ في الرَّمْزِ لَنا

عَلَى مُرُورِ الزَّمَنِ

No framework has come to us

Over the passage of time

كَيْفِيَّةٌ نَسْلُكُها

في واضِحاتِ السُّنَنِ

On how to follow a path

In the clear ways and norms,

لأَنَّهُ تَواضُعٌ

ما بَيْنَ أهْلِ الفِطَنِ

Because it is humility

Amongst the people of insight.

ما فيهِ تكْلِيفٌ لَنا

ولا لُزُومُ سَنَنِ

There is no duty upon us in it,

Nor adherence to norms.

فأَيُّ نَقْشِ ناقِشٍ

يَعْرِفُهُ مَنْ يَعْتَني

So what inscription and writing

Can one who is careful know,

يَقُومُ بالمقْصُودِ مِنْ

بَيانِ مالَمْ يَبِنِ

That achieves the purpose of

Explaining what was not clear?

فَذَلِكَ الرَّسْمُ الذي

عَلَيْه ذا الأَمْرُ بُني

That is the drawing upon which

This matter has been built.
