1. حَثُّوا الْمَطِيَّ إلى رُبَا صَنْعا

    صَدَعَ الْقُلوبَ فِراقُنا صَدْعا

    They urged the camel rider towards the dwellings of Raba

    Our separation has cracked the hearts with a crack

  2. حُثُّوا المطيَّ بنا إلى بَلَدٍ

    فاقَتْ وراقَتْ للوَرَى طَبْعا

    They urged the camel with us to a country

    That became harmonious and congenial to the inhabitants

  3. يا حَبَّذا صَنْعا وساكِنُها

    إن كانَ يُغْني حَبّذا صَنْعا

    O how excellent are the dwellings and its inhabitants

    If the dwellings avail, excellent are its dwellings

  4. يَا سَاكني صَنْعاءَ لا بَرِحَتْ

    سُحْبُ السّماءِ عَلَيْكُمُ هُمْعَا

    O inhabitants of Sana'a, the clouds

    Have not ceased pouring on you copiously

  5. قُلْ للإمامِ أَما يَرِقُّ لِمَنْ

    قَدْ فارَقَ الأَحْبابَ والرَّبْعا

    Say to the Imam, does he not have mercy on one

    Who has parted from loved ones and quarters

  6. ما بَالُهُ يَطْوي الْبِلادَ بِنا

    لا عَقْلَ يَعْقِِلُهُ ولا شَرْعا

    What is wrong with him taking us around the countries

    With no intellect that makes him understand nor law

  7. سَفَرٌ بلا نَفْعٍ يَعُودُ عَلى

    دِينٍ ولا دُنْيا لَنَا قَطْعا

    A journey without benefit that returns upon

    A religion or life no benefit to us absolutely
