Say to the valley of al-Ẓahr—may the rain greet it—
Say to the valley of az-Zaher, greet it with life
You have indeed reminded us of the gardens of Eden.
You have reminded us of the gardens of Eden
Whoever says Ḥātim's garden resembles you
Whoever says your beauty describes the garden of Haatim
Is like Ashʿab in knowledge and conjecture.
He is mistaken in knowledge and assumption
Only Bawwān resembles you, or al-Ṣu—
Rather, your beauty is described by Buwaan or as-Sughda
—ghd, or Ghouta between the two valleys.
Tomorrow or Ghawtah between the two valleys
