قَلَّدَ الْجِيدَ وَهْوَ رَبُّ اجْتِهَادٍ

واْنتِقادٍ قَلائِدَ الْعِقْيانِ

He donned the necklace, though he is the Lord of endeavor

And critique, necklaces of the blind.

نَظْمُهُ الدُّرُّ دَلَّ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَكٍّ

أنَّهُ الْبَحْرُ في عُلُوم الْبَيَانِ

His rhyme is pearls that undoubtedly showed

That he is the sea in the sciences of rhetoric.

قَدْ تَيَقَّنْتُ أَنَّني السَّعْدُ لَمّا

صَارَ هَذا الشَّريفُ مِنْ خِلاّني

I became certain that I am blessed when

This noble one became one of my companions.

يا قَريعَ الأوانِ يا سَيِّدَ الأَقْ

رَانِ يا فَرْدَ أَهْلِ هَذَا الزَّمانِ

O discipliner of the times, O master of the epochs,

O unique one of the people of this era.

دُمْتَ تُحْيي عُلُومَ أَيَّامِكَ الْغُ

رِّ وتُجْلي مِنْها صَدَا الأَذْهانِ

You continue to revive the sciences of your glorious days

And elucidate their echo in minds.

وعَلَيْكَ السَّلامُ يا زِينَةَ الأَعْ

لاَمِ يا بْنَ الْكِرامِ مِنْ عَدْنانِ

And peace be upon you, O pride of the flags,

O son of the generous ones from Adnan.
