ما لُبْسُكَ الدِّيباجَ والتّاجَ مَعْ

رُكُوبِكَ الأَدْهَمَ الأَشْقَرا

Your wearing of brocade and crown along with

Riding the dark-gray and blond steeds

ولا اتِّساعُ المالِ وَهْوَ الذي

قَدْ تَيَّمَ الأَوَّلَ والآخِرا

And the abundance of wealth which

Abandoned the first and the last

ولا الرّياساتُ وإنْ طَوَلَتْ

وعَمّتِ الأكْبَرَ والأَصْغَرا

And leadership even if prolonged

And encompassed the greatest and smallest

ولا عِناقُ الغِيدِ في مَجْلِسٍ

ضَوّعْتَ فيهِ النَّدَّ والعَنْبَرا

And embracing beautiful maidens in a session

In which you spread carpets and ambergris

وَلا مُعاطَاةُ الكُؤوسِ التي

يَسْعَى بها ساقيكَ مُتْبَخْتِرا

And sharing cups which your cupbearer

Strives to offer while being proud

كَنيلِكَ العِلْمَ إذا نِلْتَهُ

وكُنْتَ في أَربْابِهِ الأَكْبَرا

Is not like attaining knowledge if you attain it

And become among its supreme masters

ولم تَقِفْ عَجْزاً عَلَى مَنْهَلٍ

مِنْهُ تَقُولُ الصَّيْدُ جَوْفَ الفَرا

And do not stop out of inability at a spring

From which you would say the prey is hollow

فَذَاكَ عَيْنُ الجَهْلِ فافْطَنْ لَهُ

فإنّهْ أَشأَمُ دَاءٍ سَرَى

For that is the essence of ignorance so beware of it

For it is the most pungent of hidden diseases

وابْرُزْ لِعِلْم الصَّرْفِ في كِسْوَةٍ

كانَتْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الكِسائي تُرَى

And come out in the dress of grammar knowledge

Which was seen on the back of Al-Kisā'ī

وافْتَحْ فبالْمِفْتاحِ تَفْصِيلُ ما

فَصَّلَ جَارُ اللهِ مُسْتَفْسَرا

And open with the key - the details of what

The Neighbor of God elaborated seeking more

واهْتَدِ بالنَّجْمِ إذا أَظْلَمَ ال

إشْكالُ إن شِئْتض بأن تَبْصِرا

And be guided by the star when the ambiguity

Of issues darkens if you want to see

ولازِمِ التَّسْهِيلَ واسْتَغْنِ بالْ

مُغْنِي وحَرِّرْ مِثْلَ ما حَرَّرا

And stick to facilitation and suffice with

The Sufficient and write like what he wrote

وهذِهِ كافِيَةٌ للفَتَى

شَافِيَةٌ للْجَهْلِ إنْ مَا سَرَى

And this suffices the young man

Heals ignorance if it flows

والجَمْعُ في الجَمْعِ غَدَا فاعْتَصِمْ

بعِصْمَة اللهِ ودَعْ ما وَرَا

And the collection in the collection became close so adhere

To the safeguard of God and leave what is behind

واقْهَرْ بِعَبْدِ القاهِرِ الحَبْرِ في

عِلْمَيْهِ واظهِرْ سِرَّ ما سَيّرا

And defeat the ink of the All-Compeller in

His two knowledges and show the secret of what he explained

وَطَوِّلِ الإيضاحَ أَوْ لخِّصِ ال

أَطْوَلَ وارْقَ الفَلَكَ الدائرا

And lengthen the elaboration or summarize the

Long and traverse the revolving celestial sphere

وَأَوْجزِ التِّبْيانَ إن رُمْتَ أَنْ

تَكُونَ فِيهِ المثَلَ السّائِرا

And summarize the statement if you intend

To make the example current in it

وعِلْمُ رسْطاليسَ فِيهِ الشِّفا

وَهْوَ الشِّفا إنْ كُنْتَ مُسْتَبْصِرا

And the knowledge of Aristotle in it is the cure

And it is the cure if you are insightful

فَهَذِّبِ الفِكْرَ بتَهْذِيبِهِ

واطْلَعْ بذاكَ المطْلَعَ الأَنْورَا

So refine the mind with its refinement

And rise to that luminous horizon

واشْرَحْ بِشَرْحِ القلْبِ صَدْراً وَلاَ

تَهْجُرَ شَرْحَ السَّعْدِ خَيْرِ الوَرَى

And explain with the explanation of the heart a chest but do not

Abandon the explanation of the finest of mankind

وَطَوّلِ البَالَ إنِ اسْطَعْتَ في

عِلْمِ أُصُولِ الفِقْهِ والْغِ المِرا

And lengthen thinking if you excel in

The science of the fundamentals of jurisprudence and e-

وادْرَأ بعَضْدِ الدِّينِ وَجْهَ الّذي

في مُنْتَهى تَحْقِيقِهِ قَصَّرا

And block with the help of religion the face of whoever

Fell short in its utmost ascertainment

جَوَاهِرُ التّحْقِيقِ قَدْ جَبَّرَتْ

ما السَّعْدُ في تَعْلِيعِهِ كَسَّرا

The jewels of ascertainment have mended

What the Sa'd broke in his patching

وابلُغْ إلى الغَايَة فالجَمْع فال

مِعْيار أن تَفْهَمَ ما حَرِّرا

And reach the goal for the collection so there is no

Criterion unless you understand what he wrote

خُضْ في أُصُولِ الدِّينِ غَاياتِها

واشْكُرْ لمتّوَيْهِ ما ذَكَرا

Delve into the goals of the religion - its limits

And thank Mutawalli for what he mentioned

والمجْتَبَى عِنْدِي هُوَ الْمُجْتَبَى

وسِفْرُ ما نَكْدِيمَ قَدْ أَسْفرا

And what I see as excellent is the excellent

And the book of Nukdim became clear

واقْصِمْ حبالَ الجَبْرِ إن أعْضَلَتْ

ثم اعْتَصِمْ بِحَمْدِ ذَاكَ السُّرا

And break the ropes of compulsion if they caused confusion

Then adhere to the praise of the hidden one

مَواقِفُ التَّحْقِيقِ لا تَعْدُها

إنْ كُنْتَ بالتَّدْقِيقِ مُسْتَبْصرا

The stations of ascertainment - do not count them

If you are insightful in ascertaining

واسْبَحْ بقامُوسِ اللَّغى والبُغَى

صِحَاحُها تَلْقَ بِها جَوْهَرا

And swim in the ocean of language and illumination

Its authenticities - you find through it pearls

واجْلُ وَهُوماً أَظْلَمَتْ بالضِّيا

ولُذْ بِشَمْسٍ لِعُلُومٍ تَرَى

And transit the darkness that darkened with illumination

And cling to a sun of sciences you see

أَسَاسُها إن رُمْتَ تَحْقِيقَها

أَساسُها أكْرِمْ بِهِ دَفْتَرا

Its foundation, if you want to ascertain it

Is its foundation - honor with it a notebook

وكُنْ خَلِيلاً لِلخَليلِ الّذي

عِلْمُ الأَعارِيضِ بِهِ أَسْفَرا

And be a friend to Al-Khalil whom

The science of prosody became clear through

واقْطَعْ بتَقْطيعاتِ قَطّاعِهِ

حُلْقُومَ مَنْ أَوْرَدَ أَو أَصْدَرَا

And cut with the segmentations of its segmentor

The trachea of whoever came intending harm

وجُزَّ إن شِئْتَ بجَزَّازَةٍ

لِحْيَةَ مَنْ جَاءَ يُريدُ الْمِرا

And trim, if you wish, with a trimmer

The beard of whoever came wanting the position

وخُضْ غِمارَ الفِقْهِ إنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ

تَطُولَ إمّا امْرُؤٌ قَصَّرا

And delve into the cloudiness of jurisprudence if you want

To be a man whether long or short

فاسْقِ بِبَحْرِ الغَيْثِ أَزْهارَهُ

واجْنِ مِنَ الأَثْمارِ ما أَثمرا

So water with the sea of rainfall its flowers

And pick from the fruits what bore fruit

ثم انْتَصِرْ بالاِنْتِصارِ الّذي

صَارَ لِفِقْهِ العُتْرَةِ النَّاظِرا

Then gain victory with the victory that

Became the victory of the jurists' jurisprudence

وحَكِّمِ الأَحْكامَ ثُمَّ انْتخِبْ

فُنُونَها وابْنِ عَلَى ما تَرَى

And arbitrate rulings then choose

Its arts and build on what you see

إنْ أظْلَمَ الإشْكالُ قابَلْتَهُ

بالضَّوْءِ تَغْدُو عِنْدَ ذَا مُبْصِرا

If ambiguity darkened, face it

With light - at that you become seeing

والْمَقْصِدُ الأَسْنَى مَعَ الغَايَةِ ال

قُصْوىَ معَ الهَدْيِ بِلا افْتِرا

And the best purpose with the utmost goal

With guidance without any gap

عَلِّمْ كِتابَ اللهِ والسُّنَّةَ ال

بَيْضاءَ فَاعْقُدْ عِنْدَ ذا الخِنْصَرا

Teach the Book of God and the White

Sunnah so tie that around your waist

وافْتَحْ بالمفْتاحِ أَرْتاجَ ما

غُلِّقْ وأظْهِرْ سِرَّ ما أَظْهَرا

And open with the key the bolts of what

Was locked and show the secret of what was shown

ولازِمِ الكَشَّافَ عَنْ أَوْجثهِ التّ

نْزِيلِ واسْتَوْضِحْ بما حَرَّرا

And stick to the Uncoverer of the aspects of

The Revelation and clarify through what he wrote

وانْظُرْ إلى فَرْخَيْهِ إن عَشْعَشا

وكُنْ مَعَ نَاهِضِهَا طائِرا

And look at its hatchlings if they nested

And be with its ostriches flying

وارْضَعْ بِثَدْيِ الأُمَّهاتِ الّتي

تَحْنُو ويَكْفيكَ بِها مَفْخَرا

And suckle on the breast of the mothers who

Show affection - and through it you have pride

والجامِعَيْنِ اعْكِفْ بِنادِيهِما

وكُنْ لِمَنْ شَادَهُما شاكِرا

And frequent the circles of the two Collectors

And be grateful to whoever consolidated them

ثُمَّ الْمَسانِيدِ الّتي أَرْسَلَتْ

سِهامَها نَحْوَ رُؤوسِ الْمِرا

Then the Supporting Narrations which sent

Their arrows towards the heads of the objectives

والْمُنْتَقَى عِنْدِي هُوَ الْمُنْتَقَى

فَحُطْ بما أَلَّفَهُ مَخْبَرا

And what I see as excellent is the excellent

So put down what its informer compiled

وأَصْلِحْ ما تَجْهَلُ تَفْصِيلَهُ

بِنَظْمِ زَيْنِ الدِّينِ عَيْنِ الوَرَى

And rectify what you do not know its details

With the prose of the eye of existence

وابْنُ الصَّلاحِ البَحْرُ عَوِّلْ عَلَى

آرائِهِ إنْ شِئْتَ أن تَشْكرا

And Ibn Al-Salah is the ocean - depend on

His opinions if you want to thank

وحَبْرُ بَغْدادَ الخَطِيبُ الذِي

صَارَ بإجْماعٍ بهِ الماهِرا

And the scholar of Baghdad Al-Khatib who

Became agreed upon as the skillful one

وانْتَخِبِ التَّنْقِيحَ إنْ أَعْضَلَ التَّط

ويلُ والتَّفْتيشُ أَوْ أَعْكَرا

And select the Refinement if the Lengthiness and

Inspection confused or became unsatisfactory

واقْتَدِ في النَّقْلِ بقَطّانِهِ

واغمض عَلَى تَلْيِينِه جَعْفَرا

And imitate Al-Qattan in transmission

And close your eye to Ja'far's leniency

كَذا ابْنُ مَهْديٍّ وكيعٌ معَ

شُعْبَةَ أعنِي الحافِظَ الأَكْبَرا

The likes of Ibn Mahdi and Waki' with

Shu'bah - I mean the greatest hadith master

وابنُ مَعينٍ وعَلِيٌّ كَذا

أحْمَدُ بَحْرُ العِلْمِ بَدْرُ السُّرَى

And Ibn Ma'īn and 'Ali and likewise

Ahmad the sea of knowledge the full moon of glory

كَذا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ

فَخْرُ بُخَارَى مَنْ غَدا مَفخرا

The likes of Abu Zur'ah before him

The pride of Bukhari who became prideful
