1. Pearls gleam from the lines,

    and passion has thronged within the breasts.

  2. O peerless one of Muhammad's family,

    and champion of the tidings of the ages,

  3. Indeed, I have found seeking pardon

    for sins from the All-Forgiving

  4. more fitting for such a youth, now

    bearing the burden of affairs.

  5. O judge who

    remains deceived by falsehood,

  6. leave off 'he said' and 'it was said,' and cling

    to what shields you from the blast of scorching heat.

  7. And take piety as provision, for that

    is the provision for dwelling in graves.

  8. Praise and blame are among humankind,

    and sorrow is paired with joy.

  9. And none knows the way

    to attaining good or evil.

  10. Life is indeed an illusion,

    and its brief span is long in shortcomings.

  11. A soul is soothed with wishes,

    and the rope of delusion leads it.
