1. جَفْنُ المعارِفِ مِنْ فِراقِكَ سَافِحُ

    والْعَذْبُ مِنْها بَعْدَ بُعْدِكَ مالِحُ

    The eyelids of knowledge weep from your absence

    And the sweet from it after your remoteness becomes salty

  2. أَينَ الْعُلُومُ وكَيْفَ وَارَاها الثَّرىَ

    وَغَدا عَلَيْها جَنْدَلٌ وصَفَائِحُ

    Where is knowledge and how has the earth covered it

    And ragged clothes and clear winds have come upon it

  3. يا سَالِكاً سُبُلَ التَّواضُعِ خاشِعاً

    وَجْهُ الزَّمانِ لِفَقْدِ وَجْهِك كالِحُ

    O you who tread the paths of humility reverently

    The face of time for your absence is faded
