يا سعد أعلن بالهناء وردد

السعد أقبل حاملا درر الثنا
Good fortune came bearing gems of praise
سميك والمنسوب من قبل والذي
The one who named you and attributed you from before
الدهر خداعة خلوب
Time is full of deception and guile
السعد ينطق والمحاسن تشهد
Fortune speaks and beauties witness
خدعك الصاحب الصفي خيانه
Your loyal friend has betrayed you treacherously
أمن مجده فوق السماكين والفرغ
Whose glory transcends the heights of sky and space,
فديتك بالأموال والآل والأهل
I would ransom you with wealth, family, and loved ones
يا سيدا شرفني
O master, you have honored me
الصادقية حسنها بهر الورى
Truthfulness, its beauty dazzled the roses
ورثت ما نلت من فضل أبا فأبا
You inherited what you attained in merit, father after father
هو السعد قد وافى إلى تونس الخضرا
Happiness has come to green Tunisia
من أدب الكاتب ترجيع ما
From the writer's courtesy, return what
المجد عوفي إذ عوفيت والكرم
Glory is restored when you are restored, and generosity
تأمل فما إلا إلى الخالق البقا
Consider the passing, for there is only the eternal Creator
مصاب أطار النوم عن ساحة الجفن
Stricken with sleeplessness, he dispelled drowsiness from the plains of his eyelids
كذا شأنها ما لها من قرار

سرت كذكاء عند منبلج الصبح
She came gracefully at dawn's first light,
أيا راحما ارحم بهي شبابه
O Merciful One, have mercy on the beauty of his youth,
غالط زمانك لا تحفل بمن عتبا
Blame not the times, heed not the blamer
يسقيك من مزن الحيا القطار
He waters you from the springs of life O Tunisia, O paradise of countries
قف وفكر واجما مستعبرا
Stand still and think profoundly
لله طيب عشية
A pleasant evening for Allah
وفوارة في روضة مثل هالة
Like a halo in a garden, a fountain
أقبر ذا أم جنان قد سما شرفه
Is this a tomb whose loftiness has reached the heights
وقيت العنا يا حادى الركب بالعيس
You passed by the grove, O guide of the caravan at Eisa
نبأ عظيم عنه قد أعرضتم
Great news you have turned away from
أخي العشرون من شعبان ولت
The twentieth of Sha'ban has passed
لك الحمد المكرر والموالي
All praise oft-repeated and ongoing
ساعفت بالوصال ونيل الأمل
I lovingly visited despite those who blamed
قف ههنا واسكب دموعك واسبل
Stand here and shed your tears, let them flow
حيا نسيمك حتى كاد يحييني
The breeze of your being revived me, and almost brought me back to life
سنسأل ريحان الصدور عليكم
We shall ask the fragrant breeze about you
سلام لا تشابهه الدراري
A peace unmatched by gardens
ذا مقام القطب ذي القدر العلي
This is the abode of the Pole of great spiritual station,
أحب إلي من عتب الزمان
Dearer to me than reproach of time
عيد المسرة وهو شهر المولد
The festival of joy has come, the month of birth
من بالعلى تفرد
He who ascended to the highest rank
يمينا بمن لاقى على غير موعد
A toast to one met by chance unplanned,
وافت تجرر ذيلها الديجوري
The crescent drags its tail languidly
السعد أقبل بالهنا
Good fortune comes with joy
ورد البشير بما أقر الأعينا
The herald brought tidings that delighted the eyes
قف واعتبر يا ذا البصيره
Stop and take heed, O wise one
ترحم فهذا القبر قد ضم أحمدا
Have mercy, for this grave now holds Ahmed
هاتها كالتبر خفت باللآلي
She came like scattered pearls
أسلم تسليم المشوق المتيم
I surrender with the longing of the afflicted,
نديمي هذا اليوم يوم مبارك
My friends, this day is blessed,
هاتي الذهبيا
Bring me the golden one
إليك رسول الله وجهت مقصدي
To you, O Messenger of Allah, I have directed my purpose,
أرى جيش الردى يرمي نصالا
I see the army of deviance hurling blades,
وقد ألحق التطاوني محمد
Muhammad al-Tawani has ascribed
بشراي ها قد نلت ما يرضيني
My good tidings, I have attained what pleases me
مآثر جلت لا تقيد بالحصر
Great deeds abound, beyond all count,
أشاقك بارق في الجنح ساري
A lightning bolt in the wings flashed by
سرت وهي بدر والغدائر جون
She rose like a full moon while eyelids still slumbered,
كرر هناءك وابدئي وأعيدي
Repeat your joy and begin again and repeat
وما لك ذا المجموع واضع خطه
Why hast thou drawn together this assembly,
ما للمليحة لا تبيح رقادي
Why does my beauty not grant me sleep
أما بعد تسليم وأزكى تحية
After greetings of peace and purest salutation
تبسم الزهر في البطاح
The flower smiled in the valley
يوم له فضل على الأيام
A day that excels over days
لخير الدين والدنيا الهناء
For the best of religion and life is glory,
ناشدتك الله يا جناني
I implore you, my paradise,
قف بالسبيل الطيب
Stand by the good, sweet Euphrates
تأمل مليا واسبل الدمع بالخد
Contemplate for a while and let tears flow down your cheeks
قف واعتبر ذا مقر
Stand and contemplate this abode -
قف واجما وانظر بطرف ساكب
Stand in awe and gaze with overflowing eyes,
حنانيك رفقا يا نحيف بخافق
Treat me gently, O slender one, with your heartbeats
بالسعد قد ركب الأمير
With good fortune the Prince has embarked,
قصدت جنابك من سحيق مكان
Your Excellency came from a faraway place
إلى الهمام القدوة المرتضى
To the aspirations, the exemplary guide
هو السلسبيل العذب مهما سطا الحر
He is the sweet flowing spring, no matter how hot the weather grows
ولله ما هاجت لتونس أوبتي
By Allah, my yearning for Tunis was not stirred,
ربة التاج والجبين المحلى
Queen of the crown and the adorned forehead
تهن به فطالعه سعيد
He took delight in it, so its omens are auspicious,
أسحر قد سرى من جيد ريم
A magic has spread from Rima's cheek,
حرام على جفني المنام وأن يرى
Sleep is forbidden to my eyes though my love
طائر الفكر قد شدا وتغنى
The bird of thought has sung and soared
عون الغريق وغنية المحتاج
Refuge of the drowning and treasure of the needy,
نظامك أيها العلم السنوسي
O system of yours, O Sanusi flag
خرجوا ليستسقوا فقلت لهم قفوا
They went out to seek rain, so I said: "Stop!
على أشرف الرسل الكرام أولي القدر
Blessings and peace be upon the best of Messengers, the noblest
الحمد لله وهو حسبي
Praise be to Allah, for He suffices me,
برج تجلى بالمسرة والهنا
A tower gleaming with joy and delight
قف فالمقام مقام إبراهيما
Stand still! For this is the station of Abraham.
إذا كان مدحي فيكم بقصيدتي
If my praise of you in my poem
هو النبأ العظيم فمن يحامي
It is momentous news, so who will defend
ما اسم إذا صحفته يا سيدي
What is a name, my lord, if you misspell it
دعاني ناظري للحتف حتما
My critic called me to feast without fail
أهذي سماء زينت بالكواكب
بيمنك تمم القصر السعيد
بشراي ها قد نلت غاية مطلبي
إهنأ به منزلا سعيدا
وما العيش إلا في اعتناق خريدة
أمير اللواء وافتك من شاكر لكم
إذا سجا ليل خطب مظلم وغشي
سلام كنشر المسك غاد ورائح
حبيب رعى عهدا وبالطيف قد أسرى
قف وشاهد واعتبر هذه المزيه
دم في أجل سرور
قسما بمن خلق الكواكب والسما
هنيئا بالبحيرة وهي بدء
يا عاتبا في الحب لا تعتب
مآثر جلت لا تقيد بالعد
ديوان شعر لطيف
أهدي السلام إلى أعز جناب
علام أعني في الغرام وأسهد
هذا مقام عظيم القدر فاسع وطف
خذ يا غرامي بالعنان وسر به
هلموا إلى خير البلاد وبادروا
يا عمدتي في ذا الزمان وعدتي
هنيئا بهذا القصر يا غرة العصر
لله قصر بديع فوق ما أصف
تم البناء وانتظم
وجه التهاني اليوم أصبح مسفرا
يا نسيم الرياض هذا عليل
سعى بكأس الشراب
أحن لكم على شط المزار
عتوك قد أفنى اصطباري يا عتو
هو النبأ العظيم وليس يجدي
عيون المها بين الرصافة والجسر لفقد
وحديقة أزرت بكل حديقة
تنبه جفن الدهر من سنة الغمض
وجه هذا الدهر باسم
قد أقبل الشيخ على الحمار
عاطني كأس الشمول
وحياة رأسك وهي عندى
أبشر بشهر شوال
من حبس الأسحار
توجي يا سحب نيسان الربى
إذا ضاقت وسيعات المسالك
يا أهل بدر بالرسول توجهوا
تشفعت بالمختار في دفع كربتي
