مصاب أطار النوم عن ساحة الجفن

1. Stricken with sleeplessness, he dispelled drowsiness from the plains of his eyelids,
So he was generous with enough to entertain the lovesick lad.

١. مُصابٌ أَطارَ النَومَ عَن ساحَة الجَفنِ
فَجادَ بِما يُغني عَلى صَيِّبِ المُزنِ

2. He awakened those who were formerly heedless,
And perplexed those with fangs and those with teeth.

٢. أَفاقَ بِهِ مَن كانَ مِن قَبلُ غافِلاً
وَحَيَّرَ مِنّا ذا سنانٍ وَذا سِنِّ

3. Why is there no preacher for the loss of loved ones
For those with a heart or those with ears?

٣. وَلِم لا وَفي فَقدِ الأَحِبَّةِ واعِظٌ
لشمَن كانَ ذا قَلبٍ وَمَن كانَ ذا أُذنِ

4. Good tidings to you, O Mudhn, you who provided provisions for the journey
And increased, over your provisions, good assumptions.

٤. فَبُشراكَ يا مضن قَدَّمَ الزادَ لِلسرى
وَزادَ عَلى تَقديمِهِ حَسَنَ الظَنِّ

5. Just like this resident of the grave, pleased and content,
The elderly, glorious, dignified Abu Sinn.

٥. كَهَذا ضَجيعِ اللَحدِ حَمّودَةَ الرضى
كَبيرِ السَجايا اللَوذَعي أَبي سِنِّ

6. He was, by God, righteous and benevolent,
With a character more beautiful than the flowers on a branch.

٦. لَقَد كانَ أَيمُ اللَهِ بَرّا وَخَيِّراً
وَذا خُلُقٍ أَبهى مِنَ الزَهرِ في الغُصنِ

7. It was as if, O may God sanctify his soul,
It migrated with it from a meadow to a meadow.

٧. كَأَنّي بِهِ يا قَدسَ اللَهُ روحَهُ
يَروحُ بِها مِن رَوضِ فَنٍ إِلىَ فَنِّ

8. He was among the writers, a section they loved,
An honorable, ascetic, and eloquent man.

٨. وَكانَ مِنَ الكُتّابِ شَطراً يَوَدّهُم
وَصَدراً وَجيهاً ناسِكاً مُشعِرَ البُدنِ

9. My God, accept his efforts and reward him with what
You have promised, O Most Generous and Bestower.

٩. إِلَهي تَقَبَّل سَعيَهُ وَأَجزِ بِما
وَعَدتَ بِهِ يا واسِعَ الفَضلِ وَالمَنِ

10. And make true, my God, the words of a departed chronicler,
"To the Gardens of Paradise passed Abu Sinn."

١٠. وَحَقِّق إِلَهي قَولَ خِلٍّ مُؤَرِّخٍ
إِلى جَنَّةِ الفِردَوسِ مَرّ أَبو سِنِّ
