1. Great deeds abound, beyond all count,
In Africa now, in this age.

2. Its streets did marvel, shaking with thanks,
Its people shone, high and low.

3. Through him, ambition filled the state—

4. True and honest Al-Basha Al-Muhir
Brother of virtues, guide benign.

5. With bridges like this, beautiful, blessed,
Fine stonework made to last all time,

6. The valley was graced, as though with
A bracelet or belt at its waist.

7. Traveling it, secure and serene,
Though once its waters brought harm.

8. So Zarqa, pass gently beneath his rule,
As other rivers before you have done.

9. Bow to him, worship him, thank him, and sing!
Strew jewels and gold in his path.

10. And you who pass by, say "Lord reward him
With honor and triumph and grace."

11. Guard his people, defend his brave troops,
On land and on sea, give them might.

12. Set him to raise up this land, revive
Its ways and its glory and fame.

13. And when he fulfilled his glorious design
And won his renown, make a note
