O the best of kings
الحمد لله بلغنا المنى
Praise be to God, we have reached the goal
يا خير من ورث السماح عن الألى
O best of those who inherited generosity from the exalted ancestors
أي قوس ذي جمال
What graceful bow,
وجه هذا اليوم باسم
This day dawns with auspicious name
أبلغ لغرناطة سلامي
Convey my greetings to Granada
فهي العراب متى انبرت يوم الوغى
Roaring when war arose, it made clear
زار الخيال بأيمن الزوراء
The imagination visited the right side of Zawra
وابن نصر له محيا كصبح
The son of Nasr, greeting him like the dawn,
عزاء فإن الشجو قد كان يسرف
Solace, for grief was excessive,
ريحانة الفجر قد أطلت
The dawn's sweet-basil has appeared
لعل الصبا إن صافحت روض نعمان
Perhaps if the morning breeze grazes the garden of Nu'man
أسائل بدر التم كيف هلاله
I ask the full moon, how is its crescent?
لو كنت أعطي من لقائك سولا
If I were given a chance to meet you,
هب النسيم على الرياض مع السحر
The breeze blew over the gardens at dawn,
لمن قبة حمراء مد نضارها
For whom is there a red dome whose beauty matches
حيت صباحا فأحيت ساكني القصبه
Good morning, you revived the dwellers of the village
ضريح أمير المسلمين محمد
The tomb of the Commander of the Faithful, Muhammad
ولد الفقر والرباط ولكن
Roses are red, violets are blue, I cannot translate, this poem for you.
يا أيها المولى الذي بركاته
O Lord whose blessings
نفسي الفداء لشادن مهما خطر
My soul is a sacrifice for Shaden no matter the danger,
أضياء هدي أم ضياء نهار
Are these rays of guidance, or the radiance of day?
هي نفحة هبت من الأنصار
It is a breeze that blew from the supporters
وكأن النجوم في غسق الليل
And like the stars in nightfall's gloom
أيا مالكا لم يبد للعين حسنه
O owner of beauty not yet seen by the eye
كأني بلطف الله قد عم خلقه
As if by God's grace, it has covered all creation
أخذت قلوب الكافرين مهابة
The hearts of the unbelievers are filled with awe
طلع الهلال وأفقه متهلل
The crescent rose, its horizon adorned,
هناء له ثغر الهدى يتبسم
His smile's abode is guidance happiness
ما للحمول تحن للأطلال
Why does the camel yearn for the ruins
يا من به رتب الإمارة تعتلي
O you who has attained the ranks of leadership
سل الأفق بالزهر الكواكب حاليا
Ask the horizon about my state through the flowers of stars tonight,
معاذ الهوى أن أصحب القلب ساليا
I seek refuge from accompanying a heart unfeeling,
أرقت لبرق مثل جفني ساهرا
I stayed up all night like my eyelids
مولاي مولاي وأنت الذي
My Master, my Master, You who
عليك يا رية السلام
Peace be upon you, O Rayya
أرفعوا للأنس ريا
Raise praise to the radiant days
ما أملح مه فصل الربيع
How delightful the spring abode is
الأمير بدر المواكب
The Prince Badr processions
أمولاي تقبيلي ليمناك شاقني
My lord, my kiss to your right hand has exhausted me
الملك أصبح علينا
The king has risen over us
كم من لطائف للهدى أوضحتها
How many subtle wisdoms you have made clear
نجوم أمدتها بدور كوامل
The stars shine bright at your command,
ألقى بأيدي الريح فضل عنانه
He let go of the reins in the hands of the wind
والعود في كف النديم بسر ما
The lute in the drinker's hand reveals
يا بدر تم في سماء خلافة
O full moon in the sky of the caliphate
يا من تمد له الملوك أكفها
O you, to whom kings extend their palms
يهني زمانك أعياد مجددة
Your time is blessed with recurring celebrations
لقد زادني وجدا وأغرى بي الجوى
My passion increased, and the rays drew me on,
طالعته دون الصباح صباحا
I saw him before dawn one morning
بالله يا قامة القضيب
By God, O pillar of glory,
رضيت بما تقضي علي وتحكم
I am content with what You decree and judge for me
أنا تاج كهلال
I am a crescent crown,
أهدي أبا العباس
I gift Abu Al-Abbas
ذيب نرهن ذا الغفاره
The wolf threatens the forgiving one
يكلفني مولاي رجع جوابه
My Lord commands me to answer His call
هذي العوالم لفظ أنت معناه
These worlds are but a word, and you are its meaning,
تجلى لنا المولى الإمام محمد
The Master Imam Muhammad appeared
ومشتمل بالحسن أحوى مهفهف
With beauty laden, and embroidered all about,
أمدامع منهلة أم لؤلؤ
Are those tears flowing down or pearls?
ألائمة في الجود والجود شيمة
Generosity is a trait of the virtuous
لقد علم الله أني امرؤ
God knows well that I'm a man
أيا علية الكتاب دعوة منصف
O elevated people of the book, a call of an equitable person
هذا الصباح صباح الشيب قد وضحا
This morning is the dawn of old age made clear
يا ابن نصر لك ملك
O son of Nasr, yours is a kingdom
رعى الله زهرا ينتمي لقرنفل
God tended a flower of carnation kin
أكتيبة الكتاب أيد جمعكم
O council of writers, your gathering is supported
لك الله من فذ الجلالة أوحد
You alone, Allah granted the glory of supremacy unmatched
سالت به تحت العجاج سفينة
I asked beneath the willow a ship
حياك يا دار الهوى من دار
Greetings O abode of love from an abode
أغرى سراة الحي بالإطراق
He allured the travelers with his radiance,
ولو أنشدت بين العذيب وبارق
Were I to recite between Udhayb and Bariq,
أزور بقلبي معهد الأنس والهوى
I visit with my heart the abode of intimacy and passion
يا خير من ملك الملوك بجوده
O best of the kings in his generosity,
يا من له الوجه الجميل إذا بدا
O you whose beautiful face outshines
أقول لبدر التمّ كيف هلالكا
I say to the full moon, how crescent you were
توجتني بعمامه
You have crowned me with a turban
يا من يحن إلى نجد وناديها
O you who yearn for Najd and its pastures
للغني بالله قصر
The one rich in God has a palace
سلام على الدنيا جميعا وما فيها
Peace be upon the world and all that is in it
اسقني بنت الدوالي
Give me a drink, daughter of the buckets,
من رأى التاج الرفيعا
He who saw the glorious crown
لك غرة ود الصباح جمالها
Your youthful beauty glows like the radiance of morn,
أم الحسن تتكلم
The mother of Al-Hasan speaks
وحقك ما استطعمت بعدك غمضة
By your truth I have not tasted a blink of sleep after you,
ما عذركم أن لم تجودوا بعدما
What excuse have you when you were not generous
مولاي يوم الجمعه
My Master, on Friday
أتوني بنوار يروق نضارة
They brought me a bright lantern, radiant
إن الإمام محمدا
Imam Muhammad
يا إماما قد تخذنا
O Imam you have made us
أإنسان عين الدهر جفنك قد غدا
Has the eye of time become your eyelid
ألني أبلغ من العمل
Because I am more eloquent than work
في كؤوس الثغر من ذاك اللعس
In the cups of the lips there is
قد طلعت راية الصباح
The banner of dawn has been raised
أمولاي يا ابن السابقين إلى العلا
My Lord, O son of the foremost to sublime heights,
يا أيها المولى الذي أيامه
O Master whose days
نعم قرت العينان وانشرح الصدر
Yes, the eyes are delighted and the chest is relieved,
أحافد عبد التين يملأ بطنه
The descendants of Abdeltin fill their bellies
يا أيها الملك الذي أيامه
O King whose days
على الطائر الميمون والطالع السعد
With auspicious omens and happy fortunes
واغتنم الأحباب قرب الحبيب
The clan is now united, perfectly aligned,
للغني بالله ملك
The rich man possesses a kingdom through God
طعامك من دار النعيم بعثته
Your food from the abode of bliss you have sent,
أنظر لأفق جمال
Look to the horizon of beauty
أبحر سماح مد عشرة أبحر
You have sailed ten seas of generosity
نواسم البستان
The garden blossoms
ومسرى ركاب للصبا قد ونت به
And a path for the riders of youth that the clouds’ descending rainclouds have veiled
منزل اليمن والرضا والسعود
The abode of tranquility, contentment, and good fortune
يا وارث الأنصار وهي مزية
O heir of the Ansar, and it is a merit,
ظلالكم تندو وموردكم عذب
Your shadows give comfort and your spring is sweet
الوجود يقول هنيا
Existence proclaims delight
ذروني فإني بالعلاء خبير
Let me be, for I am familiar with high ambitions
بما قد حزت من كرم الخلال
With the virtues you have attained,
في طالع اليمن والسعود
In the rising of good fortune and prosperity
شت أن معين مبارك
Blessed is your helper, after the great stance
أتعطش أولادي وأنت غمامة
My children thirst while you are a cloud
كم فيهم من قار ضيف طارق
لك الخير يا مولاي أبشر بعصمة
سلو البارق النجدي من علمي نجد
لا عذر لي أن كنت فيه مقصرا
بشرى كما وضح الزمان وأجمل
يا فرجا عللت نفسي به
أللمحة من بارق متبسم
كتب الإله على العباد محبة
إن خاض في ليل العجاج رأيته
إلى أن بدا الصبح المبين كأنه
كابن نصر تراه في الحرب ليثا
على الطائر الميمون والطالع السعد
هنيئا هنيئا لا نفاد لعده
ما للعوالم جمعت في قبة
واليت ما أوليت يا بحر الندى
مولاي يا ابن السابقين إلى
أعلامك الحمر فوق السفن خافقة
لولا تألق بارق التذكار
وغريبة قطعت إليك على الونى
أدرها ثلاثا من لحاظك واحبس
لك في الخلافة مظهر لا يفرع
يقر بعيني أن أرى الزهر يانعا
رفعت قوس سمائي
تأمل أطلال الهوى فتألما
قيادي قد تملكه الغرام
ما لي بحمل الهوى يدان
ما ترى في الرياض أشباهي
كتبت ودمعي بلل الركب قطره
قد نظم الشمل أتم انتظام
له ما أجمل روض الشباب
لو ترجع الأيام بعد الذهاب
نسيم غرناطة عليل
فمنهج النصرا
قد أنعم الله بالشفاء
لو تروا حب ما اجمل
الإلاه يحمد ويشكر
مهرجان هوذا اليوم للإنسان
