1. His smile's abode is guidance happiness,
And through his pleasure contentment breathes relief.

2. The smile of smiles gives tidings of good news,
So the flowers smile radiantly from him.

3. No wonder the flowers smile in the meadow,
For lightning through the clouds gives a smile.

4. A gift from the one who gave the Caliph status,
The brilliant stars revolve around it.

5. From him every wondrous thing is learned
That’s inscribed and depicted on time’s page.

6. And from him every successor found guidance
As if what predecessors offered they had studied.

7. How many a banner in conquest you have unfurled
And for fear an army advances before it.

8. So say to earth’s kings beneath you, you’ve lost
For I’m still learning from him victories by name.

9. Through him the most noble covenant was elevated,
Which from Allah’s messenger has an honored pact.

10. And how many incumbent battles you have waged
By them the Ancient House and Zamzam are visited.

11. And how much resolve you have girded against
And how much money for Allah’s cause you have spent,

12. Advancing Him loans only Allah knows the sum.
And how many nights have you brought like nights

13. When stars for eloquent tongues shine bright.
You stayed awake and Allah records their reward,

14. Securing people while people slept in ignorance.
And over you flies a spread banner,

15. Beneath you lies a resolved decisive sword.
When you ready your steeds for a raid,

16. The dawn of war is darker and dimmer.
So no matter how much a gray horse angles about,

17. You see it in the morning not hiding its darkness.
A red horse whose ferocity the war has ignited

18. Does not hide when the darkness intensifies.
A blond horse, fury in its color and speed,

19. But lightning precedes it in advancement.
A yellow horse the color of dusk and its tail

20. Is the color that comes after dusk is known.
A black horse is like the night and the crescent moon a slit,

21. Among its jewelry a pierced pearl.
A gray horse inscribed like a parchment

22. In decisive victory’s clear preserved script.
How many warriors have you inscribed in combat

23. With canes probing and inscribing as they line up!
And the sword’s preacher stood over their heads

24. Leaving the foreigner who understands astonished.
So how many heads from torsos you have removed!

25. Every flowering meadow left barren.
You made the swords’ tongues cry

26. With no tears but what blood has spilled.
The sword river drowns the enemy,

27. Then Hell swiftly receives them.
You made the Christians’ violence subside,

28. Leaving Christ and Mary pleased.
Clearer than the Trinity is your pure belief in One God,

29. He who holds to God, God will protect.
Rouse swords that attack the enemy

30. And wake the watchful eyes to vigilance.
And Allah for the fast has one departing

31. Honoring each destined with fortune.
In it the mention from our Lord descends,

32. Beginning with His beautiful name and concluding the same.
And Allah has luminous nights in it

33. The dark was illuminated by His revelation.
The clouds of tears have poured down their rain

34. Erasing evil deeds inscribed and blamed.
And Allah has the Night of Power in it that surpassed

35. A thousand months in reward coming early.
The angels of the seven heavens spend it until dawn greeting

36. With Allah’s permission and good tidings to come.
Giving you the days of a prophetic year,

37. Esteemed in religion’s motto and emblem.
And in devotions to God you have offered,

38. Arrows to fulfill requests set for them.
In your every blessedness lies a joy,

39. In your every handful, favors and boons.
If you don’t pride in what you deserve,

40. No one will see the lamp that gives light.
None paved the way to Islam but a Caliph

41. Around whose kindness poetry’s pearls are strung.
How many homes in verses I’ve populated with your name

42. Spent the night with melodies from the friend in ecstasy.
They're not homes but lofty mansions erectedTall ruling from the summits of heights.

43. It doesn’t harm them that their era came late,
For their foundations made early last long.

44. Since you are their patron and builder of the land,
Every pride you claim to it is agreed to.

45. I'm a servant whom you made live in the garden of pleasureSo you remain in it forever enjoying delight.
And I remain on holidays roaming its meadowsWhen its nobles celebrate I sing songs.

46. As time goes may you always renew it, And may every day hold a feast and season.
And may you remain for a thousand like it in fortune,

47. And may every day hold a feast and season.
When I saw the hatchling had fallen short,

48. And you are far too high for my praise to reach,
I concluded my ode with a prayer, so here I am

49. Tossing the dew in the palm of my hand and submitting.
