1. O council of writers, your gathering is supported
By the care of the Caliph Ahmed

2. Do not delay the debt of the stranger, for I
Am one of you, though the jealous may spite me

3. You have adorned the garment of eloquence with your magic
Is the adornment of your magic appointed for today?

4. So forgive me the poems immediately
And let my hope attain its purpose through you
