1. The crescent rose, its horizon adorned,
As some proclaim its rise, while others sing.

2. It graced the face of dawn with a smile,
So the dawn shone beautifully in its light.

3. The sun of the Caliphate has cast its light,
And with its good fortune, completion is hoped for.

4. With it rose the crescent of good fortune,
In its glow, hearts and flowers bloom.

5. And it urged on, O sun of guidance, a star
That travels through its years for all who ponder.

6. The crown is the crown of the full moon in the horizon of glory,
With flowers still bedecked by stars.

7. If it contained all beauty, it is still
More splendid with shooting stars and most fair.

8. You brought out, O full moon of benevolence, its crescent,
And the kingdom is the horizon, and the Caliphate, a halt.

9. It appears with the halos of the saddled horses, and it
Is completed by the light of your face in the highest heavens.

10. You adorned its curve with the emblems of kingship,
Brightened by its beauty and represented by its silhouette.

11. You furnished it with the ornaments of perfection and essence of noble manners,
The precious and all that is beautiful.

12. It wages holy war before you, and prosperity before it,
While angels descend from the highest seven heavens.

13. It brings glad tidings from the Helpers’ abode
Of triumphs to follow in a continuous stream.

14. It revived their holy war and renewed their pride
Two hundred years later; their kingdom was restored.

15. Through it they attained abundant reward,
And through them to the Lord of heaven prayers ascend.

16. It brings glad tidings from the land of strength and protection,
Crowned and ruled, abiding by divine decree:

17. The Caliphate shone its crescent in their line,
Bringing good fortune to creation in its perfection.

18. It brings glad tidings from Qahtan, lions of mankind,
Whose glory faded not but the withered stalk.

19. The Caliphate, while still a cub of their lions,
Has surrounded religion, a growling lion cub.

20. It congratulates the Helpers that their imam
Has attained through your good fortune what he hopes for.

21. It congratulates the flags that it will shade them
With the wing of Gabriel the Trustworthy outstretched.

22. It congratulates the steeds that beneath the horsemen
Will prance with pride.

23. It congratulates the swords and lances that through it
Will attain the desired goal.

24. It congratulates the lofty titles, as he
Has reached the utmost pinnacle of glory.

25. The vanguards of conquest preceded his arrival,
While he came at his ease, slowly proceeding.

26. The stars of fortune appeared before his rise
To illuminate ambitions beforehand and adorn.

27. The tales of conquest related wondrous news,
Victory dictating, good tidings being conveyed.

28. Good fortune cast to you its reins,
So it proceeds as you speak and act.

29. Between hastened and delayed, victory
Makes you forget the past and look to the future.

30. Does not the advisor’s manner intimate
That your aims through your seeking will be realized?

31. He called them when misguidance called, so they came,
He invited them to death, so they were shrouded.

32. They disobeyed the Messenger defiantly, so
Your swords thereafter executed them exemplarily.

33. They were mountains, their plateaus now lofty,
But the wind of destruction crumbled them.

34. They were seas, gushing with iron,
But the fire of turmoil melted them down.

35. Your feet rode the mighty steeds whenever
They stirred to stand, neighing.

36. Iron was their dress and emblem,
But today, none wear it but the feet.

37. God granted you the ultimate conquest
By which the religion of guidance was restored.

38. You renewed the Helpers’ pride in holy war,
So through it, religion and life are adorned.

39. You who honor the Ancient House and Zamzam
As pilgrims, God’s delegation, descend upon it.

40. Racing to attain God’s mercy,
Coming from every dune, flocking to it,

41. Thronging like cattle herds driven by severe thirst,
Circling the Fountain is their goal.

42. With palms uplifted, imploring,
Hearts pounding, tears pouring.

43. Until victory's tale in order told
The swords now gleam, the polished lances glisten.

44. From your conquest the most sublime, by the army
That by its steadfastness exemplified the agitators.

45. The good tidings of its support brought them joy,
And they rejoiced at the news and cried: “God is great!”

46. They related the tale from you in delight
Hearing it, that honoured company trembled.

47. They prayed for your victory, the proudest glory,
That the pilgrims exult in the victory of your kingdom.

48. So congratulate yourself on a kingdom, thank
God for his subtle working and his perfect craft.

49. You have been ennobled with the name of your father, approval,
By which lives the generous one, preferred.

50. You have manifested of your favours wonders
To be recounted for generations to come.

51. Beneath them waved your red banners
By whose fluttering, great assured victory is assigned.

52. The drums of glory rumbled beneath their shade
Heralding, by their beat, hastened conquest.

53. You summoned the nobles of the land, all of whom
Speak well of your kindness, surpassing in its beauty.

54. They came in throngs of yearning, parched by thirst,
And from your palm the sweet water of generosity flowed.

55. You assigned to the defenders heroic horsemen
Like suns, their faces shining.

56. Of luminous countenance like stars, as if
Each a celestial sphere in a starless night.

57. Repelling the aggressor with utmost vigilance,
A hero on his steed, completely armed.

58. They were addicted to slaying archers, as though
Swooping down on them like eagles on prey.

59. They pursued darkening clouds,
Bewildering the onlookers’ minds and dazzling.

60. Their capacious ships were laden with provisions,
While assured victory they surely bore.

61. When their horsemen followed one another,
The ranks, reciting war texts, proceeded rhythmically.

62. By God, your steeds are swimmers
Cleaving the sea of darkness, its waves rippling.

63. Some grey like the dawn, saddled with Venus,
The morning flowing over it, kept by fate.

64. Some chestnut, freshness spilling from its sides,
Clothed in the raiment of joyfulness, everlasting.

65. Some roan like embers, its ferocity concealed
Flaring on the day of trial into raging flames.

66. Some yellow, wearing the night’s black garb,
Its tail for the night a trailing robe.

67. You perfected in this work customs
Where munificence is total and minute.

68. You created therein of your bounty clouds
That rise through kindness and are laden with benevolence.

69. You made gush from your palms ten seas
That pour the clouds of generosity, surpassing all.

70. Who compares your palm to a cloud is ignorant of comparison,
And the like of it cannot be imagined.

71. The cloud is stingy while its face is scowling,
But the face, with dew, is cheerful and smiling.

72. The clouds give water generously, its munificence
Gold that enriches those seeking wealth.

73. Who compares it to the brilliant sun is,
In my view, mistaken in his judgement.

74. Whence for the brilliant sun eloquence
By which the finest speech is adorned?

75. Who compares your perfection to the brilliant moon
Comes short, while the Caliph is perfected.

76. Whence for the brilliant moon features
Traversed by the south and north wind?

77. Whence for the brilliant moon achievements
With which the respected mount is adorned?

78. O you whose breath of praise fragrance diffuse
When it wafts, musk and mandil perfume.

79. O you whose charms of face, when glimpsed,
Bring joy to the eye and rapture to the beholder.

80. O you whose people’s glories, when recited,
Are verses sent down from on high.

81. The Caliphate from you, O King of the Most High, gains
Custody, and God, Most Exalted, for you has more.

82. Secure, trusted, rightly guided,
Victorious, guided aright, reliant.

83. It suffices the Caliphate to have you as regent
And protector from all who scheme and plot.

84. It suffices time to have you as imam,
In whom then is glory everlasting.

85. It suffices kings to have you as pillar,
Seeking your pleasure dew, hoping, aspiring.

86. It suffices the lofty titles to have you as imam,
Upon whom the finest glories cascade.

87. O God’s conclusive proof, by which
The right prevails and falsehood lowly lies!

88. You are the imam, son of an imam, son of an imam, son of an imam,
And its pride unmatched.

89. You taught until no ignorant remained,
You gave until none asking remained.

90. God's grace does encompass you,
Grasping a tie that cannot be unbound.
