1. O you, to whom kings extend their palms,
Praying to God for his long survival,

2. The crown prince has become a hunter,
Like the glorious, supreme kings,

3. And he shot the buzzards over the canal to hunt them,
The caliph's game, the enemy fugitives.

4. With every flutter of wings when they walk,
They show the coquetry of the shy gazelle,

5. They brought us black eyes and circled
Their surroundings with red agate,

6. And they drew the ruby in their beaks
And walked on coral in shyness,

7. And the hand of fate adorned their necks
With a necklace of excellent white pearls,

8. The king of birds came to the king of mortals
So he took them for the expected caliph,

9. And your generosity decreed that you give some of them
To your servant, elevating him over his peers.

10. By God, what honor equals this
That you have granted me from your noble gift?

11. Alas! Where is its reward from my gratitude
That equals it? May God reward you best!

12. Have you not granted every caliph,
East and west, the soundest opinion?

13. So the owner of the Yellow Banner has eternal pride
That he enjoys from the owner of the Red Banner,

14. White and brown, you have legislated for his victory
And aided with the white and yellow.

15. You remain the sun of the caliphate of his sons
Like the full moons in the highest horizon.
