وقد وعدتك الخيف ذا الشري من منى

بني هلال ألا فانهوا سفيهكم

رام قلبي السلو عن أسماء
My heart sought solace from Asma's name
أبعد الأغر ابن عبد العزيز
Beyond the enemy's thorn, son of Abd al-Aziz,
قضيت قضاء في الخلافة لم تدع
You ruled with justice, leaving no ambitious man
ذهب الذين أحبهم فرطا
Those I loved are gone as if it mattered not
وذلك في ذات الإله وإن يشأ

عودت قومي إذا ما الضيف نبهني

خليلي من غيظ بن مرة بلغا

لتارك أرضكم من غير مقلية

وقد قادت فؤادي في هواها
يقولون لو ماتت لقد غاض حبه
سقيا لربعك من ربع بذي سلم
وقال أئتمنا نرع سرك كله
تعرض سلماك لما حرمت
فلما قضاه الله لم يدع مسلما
أإن نادى هديلا ذات فلج
أكلثم فكي عانيا بك مغرما
ألست أبا حفص هديت مخبري
أقول وأبصرت ابن حزم ابن فرتنى
ولكن أبي لو قد سألت وجدته
وما الشعر إلا خطبة من مؤلف
سليمان إذ ولاك ربك حكمنا
ألا يا لقومي قد أشطت عواذلي
والشيب يأمر بالعفاف وبالتقى
نزل المشيب فما له تحويل
بدل الدهر من ضبيعة عكا
فبان مني شبابي بعد لذته
دع القوم ما حلوا ببطن قراضم
لمن ربع بذات
إذا ما أتى من نحو أرضك راكب
ما ضر جيراننا إذ انتجعوا
وجمعت من أشياء شتى خبيثة
ولها بالماطرون إذا
ألمت بعثر من قباء تزورنا
تحل بخاخ أو بنعف سويقة
إن زين الغدير من كسر الجر
غادة تغرث الوشاح
فقلت لعبد الله ويبك هل ترى
ألا طرقتنا بالموقر شعفر
وما أثن من خير عليك فإنه
صرمت حبلك الغداة نوار
لعمرك ما استودعت سري وسرها
أمن خليدة وهنا شبت النار
صاح هل أبصرت
فقلت إن أبا حفص تداركني
طاف الخيال وطاف الهم فاعتكرا
إذا أنا لم أغفر لأيمن ذنبه
ضنت عقيلة لما جئت بالزاد
يحمي ذمارهم في كل مفظعة
الأكرمون طوال الدهر إن نسبوا
أسلام إنك قد ملكت فأسجحي
ليس بسعد النار من تذكرونه
فما هو إلا أن أراها فجاءة
وكم من مليم لم يصب بملامة
طربت وأنت معني كئيب
خليلان باحا بالهوى فتشاحنت
فيا بعل ليلى كيف تجمع سلمها
وإني ليدعوني هوى أم جعفر
أقول التماس العذر لما ظلمتني
