ضوء نار بدا لعينيك أم شب

1. Is the light of a fire that appeared to your eyes, or did it shine with splendor among the loved ones?
That light is between the gardens, the loved ones, and the young women, from us and from the peacefulness of home.

١. ضَوءُ نارٍ بَدا لِعَينَيكَ أَم شُبـ
ـبَت بِذي الأَثلِ مِن سَلامَةَ نارُ

2. That is the home of departure, now desolate, where the seekers and visitors once gathered.
It has become abandoned, with a tower glimpsed through the winds and rains that batter it.

٢. تِلكَ بَينَ الرِياضِ والأثلِ والبا
ناتِ مِنّا وَمِن سَلامَةَ دارُ

3. And so time takes the people away, while the homes and ruins remain.

٣. تِلكَ دارُ الغَضا وَحشاً وَقَد يأ
لَفُها المُجتَدونَ والزوَّارُ

٤. أَصبَحَت دِمنَةً تَلوحُ بِمَتنٍ
تَعتَفيها الرياحُ والأَمطارُ

٥. وَكَذاكَ الزَمانُ يَذهَبُ بالنا
سِ وَتَبقى الديارُ والآثارُ
