مقيم للمقيمة في فؤادي
Staying resident in my heart
يا برق نجد هل حكيت فؤادي
O lightning of Najd, did you tell my heart,
يا ساكنين بقلبي
O dwellers in my heart
هاك قلب فسر به
There is a heart, so interpret it
سلت جفونك لي سيوف حداد
Your eyelids unsheathed swords of steel against me
أمالك رقي لا تلم عاشقا صبا
My beauty, do not blame a love-sick youth,
هلما نقضي الفرض للأجرع الفرد
Let us fulfill the duty to the most thirsty one
عيناك إن سلبت نومي بلا سبب
Your eyes, if they robbed me of sleep without cause
أما هذه نجد أنيخا مطيتي
Is this the wailing she-camel I should ride
يا عرب الحي عذلي عدد
O Arabs alive, my number has dwindled,
نسيم الصبا أذكرتني العهد بالوادي
The breeze of the dawn reminded me of the covenant in the valley,
ما صادحات الحمام في القضب
The cooing of doves in the branches,
غزال الحي من أثلات نجد
The gazelle of the desert from the glades of Najd
يا حبذا الكاس بكف الحبيب
O how delightful is the cup in the hand of the beloved
يا خده وثنايا ثغره النضد
O cheek and curves of his alluring lips
تمنيت من وصل الحبيب اختلاسة
I yearned for a stolen moment with my beloved
أفي ولهي باسم المليحة تعتب
Do you blame me for my infatuation with the fair one
إلى الراح هبوا حين تدعو المثالث
When the winds call to the breezes
يا زمان الرضا لنا هل تعود
Oh time of our contentment, will you return
لمعناي قلبي نحوكم أبدا يصبو
My heart's longing flows eternally towards you
أهلا بمعتل النسيم ومرحبا
A welcome to the breeze's harbor and greetings
أحكم ففيك العذاب عذب
I gently come to you with a poem
لك طرفي حمى وقلبي بيت
My eyes are on guard for you, my heart is a home
لا تنكر الباطن في طوره
Do not deny the inner self in its cycle
هذا المصلى وهذه الكثب
This mosque and these dunes
ندى في الأقحوانة أم رضاب
Dew in the cups or a mirage in the iris,
قم فاسقني من يديك صافية
Pour me a draught, pure from your hand
خذوا عن تثني الغصن أخبار قده
Learn of the bending boughs about his stature,
سلبتم رقادي في الهوى وتجلدي
You have robbed me of my rest in love's despair,
واصلني هجر من أحب
The estrangement of my beloved persists
واصلوني بعد بعدي
Keep in touch though we're apart
عيون الحيا جودي لتربة يثرب
My life's eyes shed tender tears on Yathrib's soil
يا أهيل الحي من ذاك الحمى
O people of life from that feverish concern
لو سقينا الربوع ماء الشباب
Had we watered springs with the water of youth,
على حبكم أنفقت حاصل أدمعي
I spent the harvest of my tears for your love,
نفوس نفيسات إلى القرب حنت
Precious souls inclined towards intimacy
وجود وحسبي أن أقول وجود
Existence, and it suffices that I say "existence"
يا سيف مقلته سكرت فعربد
O sword intoxicated with bloodshed
قفا بالمطايا بين نجد وشعبه
Stop with the camels between Najd and its valley,
خذ لوجدي من ذمة البرحاء
Take my passion from the guarantors of separation
ما هب من نخوكم نسيم صبا
The breeze of your love has blown,
لولا الحمى وصبايا بالحمى عرب
Had it not been for love and the fair maidens,
روت نفحات الطيب عن نسمة الصبا
The fragrant breezes told tales of passion
برق الحمى أنت الذي
You are the lightning of fever that
هلموا فعندي للمحبة والهوى
Come hither for with me there is for love and passion
أترغب في الحياة ولحظ هند
Do you desire the moment of bliss, O friend
لولاك يا غايتي وقصدي
Without you, my ultimate desire,
لو كنت فيه هائما وحدي

لا تطمعن فما سلو فؤاده
Do not be ambitious, for his heart's desire
إذا ماس من يهواك تيها فلا عتب
When one who adores you is led astray, do not reproach,
لمن خيم تلوح بذي طلوح
For whose tent waving at the towering peak
جحدت الهوى حتى تبدت شهوده
I denied passion until its witnesses appeared,
لما انتهت عيني إلى أحبابها
When my eyes reached their loved ones
بروق الحمى هل دمعكن يجود
The lights of fever, do your tears still flow
عجبا لمنهل خده من مورد
How amazing is the spring of his cheek from the water source,
بادر إلى راعي الصبوح صباحا
Hasten in the morn to the keeper of dawn with joy,
كأن عذار من أحب بخده
As if the reproach of the one I love on his cheek
بذمام الحب يا أهل زرود
With the reins of love, O people of fickleness,
إذا كنت بعد المحو في الصحو سيدا
If after erasure, you're still the master in waking
محياك تهواه الحميا أما ترى
I greet you, whose passion is desire, don't you see
ذكرتك فارتاع الفؤاد صبابة

فضحت جيد الغزال بالجيد
You have outshone the neck of the gazelle with your neck
صبا لربى الأراك وحي هند
The zephyr of the meadows of Arac and the living Hind,
شهدت نفسك فينا وهي واحدة
جنح الدجى من شعره يجنح
متى زرتم نجدا فإني أراكم
ثوى لك في قلبي غرام مبرح
أيا طلعة القمر المبهج
أنظر إلى حسن هذا الطائر الهزج
منعتها الصفات والأسماء
ألم يأن أن تروي قليب متيم
تذكر بالحمى قلبي الطروب
لا تلم صبوتي فمن حب يصبو
أينكر الوجد أني في الهوى شحب
عسى ليل آمالي بوجهك يصبح
عليك حمامات الأراك تنوح
حننت إلى العهد كان فانقض
أنت الحبيب وإن سلبت رقادي
لولا الحياء وأن يقال صبا
أيا عرب الجرعاء من أيمن الشعب
بالله بلغ سلامي أيها الحادي
يا نسمة البان هبي
غرامي فيكم ما ألذ وأطيبا
لا تخف من ظباء ترق حدودا
ترى يا جيرة الشعب
بكأسك يا ساقي المحبين يهتدى
بعثت في طي أنفاس الجنوب
بدا علم للحب يممت نحوه
ما أضاء البرق اللموع بنجد
تذكرت من رامة موردا
قمرية الأسحار لي تسعد
للقضب بالزهر أجياب وأجياد
وصل على رغم الحسود
فؤادي حقيقة ناديكم
دموعي أبت إلا انسكابا لعلها
