خذ لوجدي من ذمة البرحاء

1. Take my passion from the guarantors of separation
And save me from my burning grief and sorrow

١. خُذْ لِوَجْدِي مِنْ ذِمَّةِ البُرَحَاءِ
وَأَجِرْنِي مِنْ لَوْعَتِي وَعَنَائِي

2. O prince over realms and my ever-fluttering heart
Flutters for him like a waving flag

٢. يَا أَمِيراً عَلى المِلاَحِ وَقَلْبِي
أَبَداً خَافِقٌ لَهُ كاللِّوَاءِ

3. The Bedouins of Najd, a people who settled
And forfeited the pact of protection for lovers

٣. وَبِنَجْدٍ عُرْبٌ نُزُولٌ أَضَاعُوا
للمُحبينَ ذِمَّةَ النُّزَلاَءِ

4. They pitched their beautiful tent in the garden
And channeled its streams from my weeping

٤. ضَرَبُوا خَيْمَةَ المَلِيحَةِ في الرَّوضِ
وَأَجْرُوا أَنْهَارَها مِنْ بُكَائِي

5. They left my tears for ‘aqeeq and from where
Could my tears be ‘aqeeq if not for my blood

٥. وَدَعُوا لِلعَقِيقِ دَمْعِي وَمِنْ أَيْنَ
لِدَمْعِي العَقِيقَ لَوْلاَ دِمَائِي

6. For if I were to lose them, they who shed tears
While in them, from the captives, is my heart

٦. فَهُمُ لأَعَدِمْتَهُمْ أَطْلَقُوا الدَّمْعَ
وَقَلْبِي فِيهِمْ مِنَ الأسَرَاءِ

7. In the sick eyes, the sickness of my eyelids
Oh my people, in them is my remedy

٧. فِي العُيونِ المَرِيضَةِ الجَفْنِ سُقْمِي
يا لِقَوْمِي وَعِنْدَهُنَّ شِفَائِي

8. And the gestures of the fevered gazelle are
When I use the dark-eyed gazelle as metaphor

٨. وَلِظَبْي الحِمَى إشَارَةُ وَجْدِي
حِينَ أُكْنى عَنْ ظَبْيةِ الوَعْسَاءِ
