- لكل امرىء نفسان نفس كريمةFor every person there are two souls, a noble soul

- لكم حرم الله المعظم لا لنا
- لكم لقحة الأرض تحمونهاThe seed of earth you tend

- لنا كل يوم رنة خلف ذاهب
- لهان الغمد ما بقي الحسامThe Sword's Sheath When the Sword is Gone
- لهذه كان الزمان ينتظرFor this was time awaited
- لو رأيت الغرام يبلغ عذرا
- لو صح أن البين يعشقهIf Separation Could Be Loved

- ما بعد يومك ما يسلو به الساليAfter Your Day No Soothing Comes to the Questioner
- ما رقع الواشون في ولفقواThey have not mended what the slanderers tore in me, stitching and patching;
- ما زلت أطرق المنازل بالنوىI still wander from house to house with purpose
- ما عند عينك في الخيال الزائر
- ما لخيال الحبيب قد طرقاWhy do visions of my beloved come knocking
- ما لذا الداني إلى القلب شحط
- ما للبياض والشعر
- ما للهموم كأنهاWhat is it with sorrows, as if
- ما لي أودع كل يوم ظاعناWhat the Day Takes Away From Me Each Day
- ما مقامي على الهوان وعنديMy place is not one of disgrace, for within me is dignity
- ما هاج من ذي طرب مخماصThe night of the father of troubles and calamities has excited one prone to madness and giddiness.

- مثال عينيك في الظبي الذي سنحاThe example of your eyes in the gazelle that set out

- نأت القلوب وسوف تنأى الدار
- ناديته بالرمل والأمر ذكرI called him by the sand, and the matter is mentioned
- نبهت مني يا أبا الغيداق
- نبهتهم مثل عوالي الرماحI stirred them like the tips of spears
- نخطو وما خطونا إلا إلى الأجلWe walk, but our steps lead only to our death
- نزل المسيل وبات يشكو سيلهThe Stream Descended and Began to Complain of its Torrent
- نزلنا بمستن المكارم والعلى
- نزوت نزاء الجندب الجون ضلةI Carry the Scent of Jasmine
- نصافي المعالي والزمان معاندMy Friends, Time is Against Me
- نطق اللسان عن الضميرThe Tongue Speaks for the Conscience

- هي ما علمت فهل ترد همومهاShe Did Not Know, So Can You Relieve Her Worries
- وأبيض كالنصل من همهWhite Like a Sword from His Worry
- وإذا ما دعوا وقد نشط الروWhen they are called, and morning's freshness stirs
- وأفلتهن أبو عامرAbu Aamer's Escape
- والعيس قد نشف منها السرى
- وإن لنا النار القديمة للقرىAncient Fire for Villages
- وبرق حدا المزن حدو الثقالAnd lightning that cuts through sadness

- ورب ليل طربت فيهMany a night I was disturbed in it
- ورب يوم أخذنا فيه لذتنا
- ورب يوم صقيل الوجه تحسبهBright Face Day
- وردنا بها بين العذيب وضارج
- وركب تفرى بينهم قطع الدجىThe Caravan Treks On Into the Night
- وسمتك حالية الربيع المرهمYour Spring Fragrance Has Marked Me
- وسود النواظر حمر الشفاThe Sorrows of Glances, The Redness of Lips
- وشممت في طفل العشية نفحة
- وصاحب في أصيحاب أنخت به
- وضلعاء من مظلمات الخطوبAnd from darknesses of calamities, ribs
- وعاري الشوى والمنكبين من الطوىBare of shoulder and arm from bowing
- وعين عوان بالدموع وغيرها
- وفى بمواعيد الخليط وأخلفواThey Kept Their Promise of the Mixture and Broke It
- وفى ذا السرور بتلك الكربIn Times of Joy and Sorrow
- وقالوا أسغها إنما هي مضغةThey Said It Is Just Chewing
- وقائل لي هذا الطود مرتحل
- وقد تركت صوارمهم بحجرSwords They Left Behind at the Rock
- وقد كنت آبي أن أذل لصبوةMy Father's Wish

- وقفت بربع العامرية وقفة
- وقفنا لهم من وراء الخطوWe Stood Behind The Lines For Them
