أَرتاحُ إِن أَخَذَ الصَفصافُ زينَتَهُ
مِنَ الرَبيعِ وَقالَ الرَكبُ قَد مُطِرا
I find peace when the willow takes its adornment
From the spring, and the caravan says it has rained,
مُسائِلاً كُلَّما هَبَّت يَمانِيَةٌ
وَفدَ القَرينَةِ هَل أَحسَستُمُ خَبَرا
Asking whenever a southern breeze blows,
"O companions, have you sensed any news?"
إِن لَم أُرِق فيكَ ماءَ الناظِرينَ أَسىً
عَلى الزَمانِ الَّذي وَلّى فَلا نَظَرا
If I do not shed for you the water of eyes in sorrow
Over the times that have passed away without a glance back,
