1. أُعقُل قَلوصَكَ بِالإِجراعِ مِن إِضَمِ

    حَيثُ اِستُسيغَ النَدى وَاِستُلفِظَ اللُومُ

    Withhold your unruly camel from grazing wantonly

    Where the dew is sweet and blame is voiced

  2. تَلقى عَلى الماءِ بيضاً مِن بَني ثُعَلٍ

    ديباجُ أَوجُهِهِم بِالبِشرِ مَرقومُ

    You will find eggs of the ostrich tribe in the water

    Their faces, embroidered with good tidings, marked

  3. عِمادُ أَبياتِهِم سُمرُ الرِماحِ وَمِن

    أَطنابِها الخَيلُ تَعطو وَالأَناعيمُ

    The pillars of their verses are the dark of lances and of

    Their long robes horses prance and ostriches strut
