News of the valley's edge has come,
Brought by riders' outstretched hands,
And I hope for a courageous step
That will answer the call of glory and nobility,
With it we will cure souls
That look between dreams and resolves,
And though fate makes the young man bear
The weightiest of matters,
I remain on the fringes of the dunes, youthfully
Asking about your welfare, all newcomers,
And watching the fluttering of the breeze, when it blows
From the west, the necks of attacking winds,
Daughters of travel, he whose heart
Urged you to pray with determined fire,
And every brave sword-wielder
When the faces of injustice turned pale amongst us,
Wiping the enemies' tendons, and yet
Kissing a mouth from the enemy's gaps,
When war summoned its helpers, breastbones
Collided amidst skulls and turbans,
And his blood caked the foes' horsemen
Between beards and headwraps.
It lost all eyes in weeping
And cut off the surging, flowing tears,
And no slip ever touched his glory,
Whereat regret would clang with remorse.
Oh would that I knew, did you spend a night
Where I make the necks of mounts touch the blade?
Will the desert cast my journey to you
As the nostrils of brisk camels breath at night?
I must meet the foe in an ambush
Of horses turned by the spear and swords.
