أَبا هَرِمٍ أُنحُها إِنَّني

سَأُمطِرُها عَن قَليلٍ دَما

Abu Harim, I will soon

Rain it with some blood

وَلا تَشمَخَنَّ بِأَنفِ الأَنِيِّ

فَأَولى لِأَنفِكَ أَن يُرغَما

Do not be arrogant with the nose of the docile

It is better for your nose to be bent

وَإِنَّكَ يَومَ تَنَزّى عَلَيَّ

وَتَبغي لِيَ المُؤيَدَ الصَيلَما

And when you come down against me

Seeking for me a chastening supporter

كَمَن صارَعَ الأَسَدَ المُستَغي

رَ في الغابِ أَو ساوَرَ الأَرقَما

Like one who wrestled the fierce lion

In the forest or confronted the lancer

بَدَأتَ فَعَقَّبتَ في المُعضِلاتِ

وَكُنتُ أَرى البادِئَ الأَظلَما

You initiated then followed with quandaries

While I saw the initiator as darker

وَما كُنتُ أَرمي بِسَهمِ العُقو

قِ إِلّا اِمرَأً صابَني إِذ رَمى

I did not shoot arrows of collars

Except at a man who shot me when he shot

قَذَفتُكَ في التيهِ مِن بَعدِ ما

سَلَكتُ بِكَ السَنَنَ الأَقوَما

I made you lost in the wilderness after

I took you through the most upright paths

وَقَد كانَ أَشرَقَ جَوّي عَلَيكَ

وَلكِن لِظُلمِكَ ما أَظلَما

While my atmosphere shone upon you

But for your injustice it did not illuminate

فَقِف حَيثُ أَنتَ فَما كُلُّ مَن

بَغى أَن يَطولَ وَيَسمو سَما

So stop where you are, not everyone who

Wanted to be tall and tower, did tower

وَلا مَن تَقَدَّمَ نالَ العُلى

رَخيصاً وَلَكِنَّ مَن قُدِّما

Nor whoever preceded attained the height

Cheaply, but only he who was led

سَأَبعَثُها ظُبَةً تَختَلي ال

خَصائِلَ أَو تَعرُقُ الأَعظُما

I will send it a gazelle that walks with pride

Or sweats the mighty

فَدونَكَها قاصِفاً عاصِفاً

مِنَ الشَرِّ أَو عارِضاً مُرزِما

Against you charging, storming

With evil or defeating gloom

قَوارِصَ تَنثُرُ نَظمَ الدُروعِ

وَتَستَنزِلُ البَطَلَ المُعلَما

Arrows that scatter the knitting of armors

And downgrade the conspicuous hero

فَمَن كانَ يَسقيكَ رَيَّ الجِنى

فَإِنّي سَأُلعِقُكَ مُستَلئِما

Whoever was watering you the irrigation of harvest

I will make you lick it with tolerance

وَمَن كانَ يَلقاكَ مُستَسلِماً

فَإِنّي أُلاقيكَ مُستَلئِما

And whoever was meeting you in surrender

I will meet you with tolerance
