1. وَقائِلٍ لِيَ هَذا الطَودُ مُرتَحِلٌ

    وَهَل يَخِفُّ عَلى الأَيّامِ مَحمَلُهُ

    And someone says to me, “This mountain is departing.”

    But can the days bear his weight lightly?

  2. لا يُبعِدِ اللَهُ مَن غالَت رَكائِبُهُ

    صَبري وَقَلقَلَ مِن دَمعي تَقَلقُلُهُ

    May God not cast him far away—the one whose mounts carried off

    my patience, and whose moving on shook tears loose from me.

  3. يُطَيِّبُ النَفسَ أَنَّ النَفسَ تَتبَعُهُ

    وَكَيفَ يَرحَلُ مَن في القَلبِ مَنزِلُهُ

    It soothes the soul to know that the soul will follow him;

    yet how can one depart whose dwelling is in the heart?
