سَأُنزِلُ حاجاتي إِذا طالَ حَبسُها
بِأَبوابِ نُوّامٍ عَنِ الحَمدِ وَالأَجرِ
I shall lodge my needs, when they have long been held back,
at the doors of one asleep to praise and recompense—
بِأَروَعَ مَصبوبٍ عَلى قالِبِ الحَيا
وَأَبيَضَ مَطبوعٍ عَلى سِكَّةِ البَدرِ
with a splendid man, cast in the mold of modesty,
a radiant one, struck from the full moon’s die.
