- ولقد قلت يوم بانوا لبكرI seek refuge with Allah from Satan the accursed.
- وما ظبية من ظباء الأراكAnd no doe from the wild deer of Al-Arak
- ومشاحن ذي بغضة وقرابةAnd Rivals with Hatred and Kinship
- ومن كان محزونا بإهراق عبرة
- ومن لسقيم يكتم الناس ما بهAnd who can a sick man tell of his illness
- وناهدة الثديين قلت لها اتكي
- يا أم نوفل فكي عانيا مثلتO mother of Nawfal, relieve my suffering that I have endured
- يا أهل بابل ما نفست عليكمYa ahlu Babila ma nafsatu alaykum
- يا أيها العاذل في حبهاO lover lamenting over his love
- يا برق أبرق من قريO lightning, flash from a village
