Grief stirred the heart because of her, a passing whim

And pressing cares, as well as the memory,

And the words of the cheek when she faced

The direction of the caravan, and her eyes were pearls

O Abu Al-Khattab, you have not burdened us

With an obligation wherein is toil and sleeplessness

Except with the righteousness of Allah, only a glance

From you that to me bears no significance

I said you have not burdened us with love for you

O daughter of the two best, most painful and bitter

And indeed my heart increased in sorrow

At her words to me, "Conceal my secret, O Omar"

I said, "You are the thing whose secret should be concealed

And whose love should be granted, and made easy"
