أَيُّها العاتِبُ المُكَثِّرُ فيها

بَعضَ لَومي فَما بَلَغتَ مُناكا

O you who blame her excessively

You have blamed part of me, but you did not reach your goal

لَم يَكُن مِن عِتابِنا بِسَبيلٍ

فَتَرى أَنَّ ما عَنانا عَناكا

There was no way for our blame

So you see what distracted us from you

عِندَ غَيري فَاِبغِ النَقيصَةَ فيها

إِنَّ رَأيِي لا يَستَقيدُ لِذاكا

With others, seek out her shortcomings

Indeed, my view cannot be led to that
