أَطوي الضَميرَ عَلى حَرارَتِهِ

وَأَرومُ وَصلَ الحِبِّ في سِترِ

I fold my conscience around its heat

And I intend to connect love in secrecy

وَأَبيتُ أَرعى اللَيلَ مُرتَقِباً

مَجرى السِماكِ وَمَسقَطَ النَسرِ

And I refuse to pasture the night awaiting

The path of fish and the nest of eagles

كَم قَد مَضى إِذ لَم أُلاقِكُمُ

مِن لَيلَةٍ تُحصى وَمِن شَهرِ

How much has passed when I did not meet you

Of a night that's counted or of a month

وَمُحَدِّثٍ قَد باتَ يُؤنِسُني

رَخصِ البَنانِ مُهَفهَفِ الخَصرِ

And a storyteller who stayed up entertaining me

Of cheap perfumes slender waisted

مُتَضَمِّخٍ بِالمِسكِ يُشعِرُ بي

أَعطافَ أَجيَدَ واضِحِ النَحرِ

Drenched in musk making me sense

The scent of soft skin and prominent chest

وَيُذيقُني مِنهُ عَلى وَجَلٍ

عَذباً كَطَعمِ سُلافَةِ الخَمرِ

And making me taste it in yearning

Sweet like the flavor of tasty wine

في لَيلَةٍ كانَت مُبارَكَةً

ظَلَّت عَلَيَّ كَلَيلَةِ القَدرِ

In a night that was blessed

That remained upon me like Laylat Al Qadr

حَتّى إِذا ما الصُبحُ آذَنَنا

وَبَدَت سَواطِعُ مِن سَنا الفَجرِ

Until when the dawn warned us

And the glimmers of dawn light appeared

جَعَلَت تُحَدِّرُ ماءَ مُقلَتِها

وَتَقولُ مالي عَنكَ مِن صَبرِ

It started to shed the water of its eyeliner

And say I have no patience with you

بِمَحَلَّةٍ أُنُفٍ يُكَلِّفُها

قَومٌ أَرى فيهِم ذَوي غِمرِ

With freckles that task her

A people I see amongst them those of short stature

وَغُرُ الصُدورِ إِذا رَكِنتُ لَهُم

نَظَروا إِلَيَّ بِأَعيُنٍ خُزرِ

And the chests when I leaned towards them

They looked at me with blue eyes
