1. تَذَكَّرتَ هِنداً وَأَعصارَها

    وَلَم تَقضِ نَفسُكَ أَوطارَها

    You recalled India and its storms

    Yet your soul did not fulfill its days there

  2. تَذَكَّرَتِ النَفسُ ما قَد مَضى

    وَهاجَت عَلى العَينِ عُوّارَها

    The soul recalled what had passed

    And its tears welled up in the eyes

  3. لِتَمنَحَ رامَةَ مِنّا الهَوى

    وَتَرعى لِرامَةَ أَسرارَها

    That you may grant Ramah love from us

    And tend to Ramah’s secrets

  4. إِذا لَم نَزُرها حِذارَ العِدى

    حَسَدنا عَلى الزَورِ زُوّارَها

    When we did not visit it, fearing harm

    We envied its false visitors
