A phantom stirred my passion in the night
As we camped beside the sand dunes white
It roused me while my friends in slumber lay
With thoughts of her that stole my sleep away
I watched the stars their destinies unfold
Loving her still, though weary and grown old
A phantom from Hind that passed in the gloom
Between the ruins and our lonely tomb
O Hind! deny us not what we implore
Who love thee yet, though broken and heartsore
O Hind! who scorn the craven coward's place
But seek renown and dignity and grace
