لَجَّ قَلبي في التَصابي

وَاِزدَهى عَنّي شَبابي

My heart is immersed in love

And my youth has slipped away from me

وَدَعاني لِهَوى هِن

دٍ فُؤادٌ غَيرُ نابِ

And another heart calls me to passion

Leaving my own broken and torn

قُلتُ لَمّا فاضَتِ العَي

نانِ دَمعاً ذا اِنسِكابِ

I said, as tears overflowed

Flowing in streams down my cheeks

إِن جَفَتني اليَومَ هِندٌ

بَعدَ وُدٍّ وَاِقتِرابِ

If India has abandoned me today

After intimacy and closeness

فَسَبيلُ الناسِ طُرّاً

لِفِناءٍ وَذَهابِ

Then so be it, for people's affections

Are fleeting, and destined to fade
