العيد عاد وعيدنا هم وغبون
The feast has returned but our feast is sorrow and loss
أنا الفايدة مني صلاتي على النبي
I am of benefit from my prayers upon the Prophet
غنى الذي يشكو من البعد والجفا
The one who complains of distance and estrangement sings
فاض الغرامي يوم شفتو بمنامي
My passion overflowed when I saw you in my dream,
غنى المعنى من فؤاد
The meaning sang from a suffering heart,
لا ياعذابي آه ما أكثر حوابي
My torment, oh how numerous are its passages
غنى الذي قلبو من الضيم والعنا
He sang with a heart full of injustice and suffering
العيد عاد وعيد قلبي هواجيس
The feast has returned, and the feast of my heart is delusions
القلم لما بدا يرسم قصيد
When the pen began to compose a poem
غنى المعنى من فؤاد موجع
The meaning sang from a grieving heart
سار مذبوح القلم أوحى الصرير
The slain pen's murmur flowed
من كثر ما في ضامري نيراني
My tears overflow from my eyelids
يا راكبا من فوق نابي مضمر
O rider above the lofty peaks
يا معتلي من فوق صهوة عبيان
O you who sit atop the Suhwah of 'Ubayyan
يا راكب اللي ماضيا لو تجاريب
O rider who is traveling the past as if living it
يا ونة ونيتها من ضميري
O Wunah and her yearning from my conscience
أبديت غني وافرج الهم عني
I pretended to be wealthy and relieved my worries,
غنى الذي من واهج الضيم والنوى يرسم
The one who sings of oppression and resolve
يا راكبا من عندنا هيزعية
O rider coming from our Hiz'iyyah,
أنا لقابل الورج ولاغيه
I face the fate, undeterred,
بالله ياللي قاصدك قط ما خاب
By God, O you whose path never fails
أنا إن طال ليلي واسمر النجم بالسما
If my night is prolonged and the stars darken in the sky
يا طروش ياللي فوق شخص المحاديب
O birds above the person crying,
يا راكبا من عندنا فوق سحوان
O rider above Sahwan, free in meaning, singing to the air
يقول المعنى من فؤاد موجع
The meaning says with a woeful heart
يا لله ياللي دايم الدوم نرجاك
O God, the Everlasting, we implore You
نبتدي باسم حي لا يزيل
We start in the name of the Ever Living
بِاللَه يللي قاصدك ما خابي
By Allah, the One whose help you seek never fails
غنى الذي من واهج الضيم والنيا بدا
The one who with injustice's wrath began
غنى الذي من واهج الضيم والنوى
The one who sang with the wounds of injustice and malice
يا زين يا محبوب يا رسمالنا
O beauty, O beloved, O our symbol
يا عين ما طول الجفا ما زالي
O eye, how long has estrangement endured
بدا هاجسي يرسم قوافي جنيتها
My obsession started composing its rhymes
أبديت أشرح في قوافي ألمعي
I utter poetry with polished rhymes
أَبونا قال بالسابق وجدناي
Our Father said beforehand we found me
غنى المعنى من فؤاد موجع
A suffering heart sang with meaning,
اللي سلاني مثل سلي الدهاني
The one who asked me is like Suli al-Dahhani
يا راكبين كورا هجنا ضمرا
O riders of swift camels traveling by night
طاف هم القلب واشتد البلا
My heart is restless, anguish intensifies
يا الله يا رب القدر يا خالق
O Allah, O Lord of Destiny, O Creator
بديت أنظم قصيدة من ضميري
I began to compose a poem from my conscience
درب ماشي وكل الناس لاهين
I walk the path while all the people play,
قوم يا مرسال يا طير الحمام
Rise, O messenger, O dove
أبديت باسمك يا عظيم الأسامي
غنى صبيا عاقبو الدهر بِالنيا
غنى الذي من واهج الضيم والنيا
غنى المعنى من فؤاد موجع
غني الّذي من واهج الضيم والنيا
ياللَه يا رب القدر يا عالي
راح الذي يبدي على ما قد جرى
عفا الله عن قلب خذا الهم قسمه
قلبي على فقد المحبين ولهان
يا عيد يا عيد المواجيع يا عيد
يا خالقي يا حي يا رزاق
الألف ألفت المعاني لطالبه
